Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - Pack rat conditions aided a fire’s spread through a single-family home Wednesday afternoon.
The fire tore through the home in the 1200 block of North Lawrence Avenue around 2:43 p.m. The fire burned near the Monterey Health and Wellness Centre, 1267 N. San Gabriel Blvd., forcing the evacuation of 73 people inside the care center, according to Los Angeles County Fire officials. No one was injured. Two residents in the home were evacuated by deputies, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. While the Temple Station initially reported one dog was also evacuated, firefighters on scene requested animal control for a group of 15 cats and dogs roaming into and out of the home as firefighters were still working after flames were knocked down, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. Flames were knocked down by 3:07 p.m. |
