CityWatch Editor ROSEMEAD - No crime scene was found after a call of a shooting turned out to be bogus Friday morning. Deputies determined the incident was a swatting call. Dispatchers were told that a man used a shotgun to shoot his mother in a home in the 3300 block of Kelburn Avenue May 1, according to Los Angeles County Department radio traffic. Deputies responded to the home at 7:12 a.m. Firefighters were also called to the scene. A protective sweep of the home was conducted and deputies confirmed no victims were found. “These incidents are actively being investigated. It is important for the public to be aware that any person(s) responsible for the swatting calls can face criminal charges and civil liabilities for the unnecessary deployment of law enforcement personnel,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. ********** Copyright 2026.
