Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - An accidental fire is being blamed for a fire that destroyed a detached garage in San Dimas Saturday.
The fire was reported in a detached garage in the 200 block of West 1st Street at 11:47 a.m. Los Angeles County Firefighters arrived and quickly knocked down flames. The cause of the fire was an electrical issue, according to Lt. Elisabeth Sachs of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. A vehicle parked in the garage was also destroyed. The collision occurred around 11:53 a.m. A deputy was responding to an emergency call in the 1100 block of Arrow Highway when, for unknown reasons, the Sheriff’s SUV and a vehicle collided, said Sgt. Matthew Bodell of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The dark blue, four-door car sustained major front-end damage. The Sheriff’s SUV jumped a sidewalk and came to a rest on a grassy area outside the Arco gas station, 1115 W. Arrow Hwy. No one in either vehicle required hospitalization, Bodell said. A report has yet to be completed. Bodell did not know if the civilian driver ran a red light, nor did he know the direction of travel for either vehicle. |
