Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A teen boy was taken into custody Thursday after deputies accused him of making prank calls about a man with a gun at San Dimas High School. The San Dimas Sheriff’s Station received multiple calls from a single source around 9:38 a.m. The caller claimed there was a man with a gun near the basketball courts. Deputies searched the high school out of an abundance of caution after every student was moved to inside nearby classrooms. Deputies searched and reported that no weapon was found and no person with a gun was seen near the high school, 800 W. Covina Blvd. The student was identified, located and taken into custody. Neighboring Lone Hill Middle School was also placed on lockdown. “The lockdowns at San Dimas and Lone Hill have been lifted. All students and staff are safe. Regular school activities are resuming,” according to Bonita Unified School District officials in a social media statement. The fire ignited near the eastbound I-10 freeway east of Via Verde just after 1:30 p.m. August 17. A vehicle described as a Dodge Avenger caught fire on the right shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol. Forward progress of the brush fire has stopped. No structures are threatened. |
