DETECTIVES: Traffic Collision Victim was Suspect who Died After San Dimas Burglary Friday10/31/2020 Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - The man who crashed and suffered major injuries Friday was identified as a suspect who allegedly broke into an occupied home where he was stabbed fatally by an occupant.
The break-in occurred in the 400 block of Portola Street just before 4 a.m. October 30. After kicking in the front door, the suspect was confronted by the homeowner who stabbed him during an altercation, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The unidentified suspect fled the location only to crash minutes later on East Arrow Highway at South Walnut Ave., a few blocks south of the break in. The suspect was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where he died. The suspect’s identity has not been made public yet. His body has not yet arrived to the county coroner, according to Lt. David Smith of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. “During the break-in, several adults were inside the house but were not injured during the incident,” according to the Sheriffs Information Bureau. There is apparently no known relation between the suspect and homeowner and no motive yet exists. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A resident’s 13-year-old dog was stolen during a home burglary May 15, San Dimas deputies said Thursday. The home burglary was reported in the 1100 block of Camino del Sur eight days ago. The Bichon Frise named Teddy was taken along with other personal belongings, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station.
Teddy suffers from seizures and requires daily medication. Teddy was wearing a royal blue harness with ID tags and is also microchipped, deputies said. Anyone who has seen teddy is urged to call the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station at 909-450-2700. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A trio of teen-aged burglars entered a home and fled after being confronted by the homeowner Friday night.
The homeowner was inside at the time when the trio of burglars entered through a window June 8. It is unknown what was taken, according to Lt. Elisabeth Sachs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Station. Deputies responded to the home in the 100 block of Prairie Drive around 7:40 p.m. The homeowner described the suspects as Black teen boys, 5 feet 2 inches tall and around 120 pounds. The teens wore black hoodies that covered their faces. The teens fled in a newer, white sedan westbound on Prairie Drive and out of view. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - Two women accused of shoplifting Costco briefly struggled with employees before fleeing Sunday, a Sheriff’s sergeant said.
It was not immediately known what merchandise was being taken, but as the women were leaving the Costco, 520 N Lone Hill Ave.,, employees attempted to stop them. Everyone struggled over the merchandise before loss prevention was able to get it back, said Sgt. Terrance Smith of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. Deputies were called to Costco around 3:30 p.m. “One of the suspects did drop a wallet with her ID, so we have some information on who it is and [our deputies] will follow up,” Smith said. No one was injured. The suspects, identified as a Hispanic woman and white woman, were seen fleeing towards the railroad tracks to the east of Costco. A resident arrived home to the 1000 block of Via Esperanza at 11:45 p.m. and found the front door open. Deputies arrived to secure the home and learned a handgun was taken, said Sgt. White of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. It was unclear if the handgun was secured in any way. The handgun was the only thing believed to be taken. The type of handgun taken was not immediately known. A suspect description was unavailable. |
