The pedestrian was struck near the 500 block of Terrace Drive. The tracks are between Cataract Avenue and the 57 freeway. The pedestrian was hit around 1:41 p.m. March 5. The tracks are closed between the Metrolink Covina Station and the Pomona North Station, according to Metrolink. Train 359, which struck the pedestrian, was bound for Los Angeles. MTA buses are picking up passengers from Covina making stops to Los Angeles. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - Detectives are investigating a reported sexual assault that occurred on a hiking trail north of Horsethief Canyon Park.
Although recently reported, the assault took place on an unknown portion of the trails in mid January, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. That area is largely frequenting by trail goers and by pet owners who frequent the San Dimas Dog Park, 301 Horsethief Canyon Road. The suspect is described as a man wearing green cargo pants, a black sweater and dirty, black Converse tennis shoes, according to the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. “The purpose of this notification is to advise those frequenting the area of the San Dimas Dog Park, to use caution and be cognizant of your surroundings,” according to the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station in a written statement. A patrol deputy discovered a stolen vehicle in the area of Bonita Avenue and pony express Lane around 4:25 a.m. January 25, according to Lt. Louis Serrano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The suspect, followed by deputies, drove in and out of neighborhoods in San Dimas and into La Verne and ran on foot in the area of Third Street and Wheeler Avenue. The suspect fled across David and Margaret Youth and Family Services, 1350 Third St. “It appears he struck a curb,” Serrano told SGV CityWatch. The suspect, described as a male wearing a black coat and black pants, fled across the property of David and Margaret Youth and Family Services, 1350 Third St., and eluded capture. Serrano did not immediately know what city and what date the vehicle was stolen. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS – A man accused of threatening a security guard and potentially carrying a weapon fled from deputies after a brief tussle and hid from them, initiating a long search in a neighborhood.
Deputies were called at 5:43 p.m. after the man refused to leave Subway 1045 W. Arrow Hwy. September 19. During a check for weapons, the suspect resisted, briefly fought with deputies and ran, according to Sgt. Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. A witness later told deputies the suspect was seen with a weapon, Long told SGV CityWatch. The suspect fled west across Lone Hill and into a neighborhood in the 100 block of West St. George Dr. Both the deputy and suspect sustained minor injuries. Deputies locked down the neighborhood and were told the suspect was hiding in a resident’s shed. A helicopter and K9 unit were called to help search. The suspect eventually escaped and took refuge in some bushes Between Kaiser Permanente, 1255 W. Arrow Hwy., and a neighboring credit union to the east. He was spotted in some bushes during an expanded search. Deputies fired a flash bang grenade towards the suspect who eventually surrendered around 9:30 p.m. No weapons were found on the suspect, even after deputies retraced the path he likely took while fleeing, Long told SGV CityWatch. Long declined to provide the suspect’s name, only describing him as a transient Hispanic man in his 30s. Long was unclear as to what charges the suspect would be booked on, stating a report had yet to be written. The fight erupted around 6:30 p.m. at the swim beach area of Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park, 120 Via Verde Park Rd, July 17. “It was determined that it was a mutual combat situation where nobody wanted anything done. They just wanted to get out of there,” according to Lt. Louis Vigil of the Sheriff’s Park Bureau. Monday, one of the people involved in the fight spoke to deputies to file an assault report after someone suffered unspecified injuries, Vigil told SGV CityWatch. Initial reports incorrectly indicated a stabbing occurred. Vigil could only state that a disagreement between beachgoers led to the fight. Investigators continue their search for the shooter who murdered 35-year-old Pomona man Michael Moreno. He was shot around 6:20 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 225 S. Cataract Ave., December 23, 2018. He was found dead in the 200 block of South Acacia Street. A second shooting victim was found and hospitalized. A nearby pickup truck was struck by gunfire as well. “Our Board approved my request for a $10,000 reward for information that will help the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department find whoever is responsible. The driver did not stop after striking the bicyclist on West Fifth Street west of North Eucla Avenue at 6:30 p.m. The 37-year-old male bicyclist sustained major injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “The driver of the truck slowed down and stopped at Eucla Avenue, then drove east bound and out of view. The driver did not stop to check on the welfare of the cyclist. It is believed the truck sustained damage to the right front headlight housing,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s in a written statement. The truck is believed to be a Dodge Ram. Residents are urged to check their surveillance video for that day and time for any recordings of the crash or suspect fleeing. SAN DIMAS - Sheriff’s detectives are searching for a man who has not been heard from since October 29. Andrew Thomas McGinnis-Bruno, 29, suffers from bipolar disorder and last contacted family while staying at a San Dimas motel, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Detectives did not reveal which motel. McGinnis-Bruno last contacted family around 7 p.m. Friday. McGinnis-Bruno was last seen wearing black sweatpants and a spotted sweatshirt. McGinnis-Bruno is described as 6 feet and 1 inch tall, weighs 150 pounds, has blue eyes and blonde hair. He has tattoos of the words “Marcel” and “Judy” on his inner left forearm, a skull on his inner left forearm near the elbow, and the words “Devil Dog” on his upper left arm, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies responded to Allen Avenue and Amelia Avenue around 7:15 a.m. to a call of a bear. The animal continued to saunter through the area and eventually found its way to nearby Shull Elementary School, 825 N. Amelia Ave. The bear, described as an adult female, walked onto campus during student drop-off. Students were ushered into classrooms and the cafeteria. School administrators put the campus on temporary lockdown until deputies gave the all-clear when the bear turned its focus again to the surrounding neighborhoods. The bear had a prolonged stay in a yard at Gladstone Street and Dallas Road where it remained cozy in an avocado tree until the Department of Fish and Wildlife arrived and tranquilized it. The bear was relocated to the Angeles National Forest. Joseph James Dambra, 62, faces one count of murder and one count of shooting at an unoccupied vehicle. He is being held in lieu of $2.07 million bail, according to a criminal complaint provided to SGV CityWatch. Dambra’s arraignment has been continued to November 18, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Dambra is accused of “willful, deliberate and premeditated murder” in the death of 68-year-old Richard Dambra October 6, according to the criminal complaint. The shooting took place inside a family member’s home in the 200 block of South Valley Center Avenue. Family turmoil is believed to be the genesis behind the violence, according to Lt. Brandon Dean of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau in a previous press conference. Other family members were inside the home when the shooting occurred. Richard Dambra is a resident of Florida and was here visiting his mother, Dean said. Within minutes of the first shooting, Dambra wound up in the 500 block of East Allen Avenue and unloaded his handgun a second time, eventually damaging the unoccupied vehicle of his other brother. It is believed Dambra intended to fatally shoot his other brother as well, Dean said. Dambra fled on a 2016 Ducati motorcycle and investigators believed he fled north on the 15 freeway from the 210 freeway. Dambra, 62, surrendered himself in to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies in Victorville October 9. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau was notified and Dambra was eventually arrested by San Dimas Station deputies, according to Sgt. Polanco of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. |
