Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN GABRIEL - An Investigation is underway on the east I-10 freeway at Del Mar Avenue involving a carjacked vehicle and an injured suspect.
A Sig Alert was issued at 11:27 a.m. The HOV and No. 1 lane are blocked for 30 minutes after all lanes were initially closed. CHP Officers were called to the area of a pedestrian in traffic lanes at 11:17 a.m. “A pedestrian was running in lanes, hitting other vehicles,” according to Officer Peter Nicholson of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. While Nicholson was unable to confirm details yet, the pedestrian was armed with a weapon, according to CHP radio traffic. The pedestrian, initially thought to be armed with gun, was found carrying a tire iron. The pedestrian was somehow injured and went into cardiac arrest. He was taken to an area hospital and his condition is unknown. Firefighters were dispatched to a reported two-to-three-vehicle collision an the east I-10 west of San Gabriel Boulevard at 11:21 a.m. One person at the scene was treated after going into cardiac arrest, according to Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The vehicle associated with the pedestrian was reported stolen out of Huntington Park. Two men carjacked a driver. The location of the second suspect is unknown, according to CHP radio traffic. |
