Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN GABRIEL - Three suspects involved in a four-minute chase remain free tonight after fleeing officers on foot after crashing into an officer. An officer attempted to contact three suspicious men near the Hilton Los Angeles, 225 W. Valley Blvd., around 10:54 a.m. Friday. The suspects fled the officer in a black Saturn SUV and a chase was initiated, said Lt. Rene Hernandez of the San Gabriel Police Department. During the chase, the driver intentionally backed into a patrol car pursuing him at an intersection, Hernandez said.
The suspects ran from the crash scene in the 1100 block of Ramona Street. Nearby San Gabriel High School and Alhambra’s Baldwin Elementary School were placed on lockdown as a precaution. Police ended the search at 1:20 p.m., Hernandez said. The suspects are wanted for hit and run, assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest, Hernandez said. The SUV is not reported stolen. Nothing inside the SUV was found, Hernandez said. |
