written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN MARINO - A Lakewood man and Los Angeles man were arrested Thursday after a vigilant resident called police after he witnessed a possible burglary in progress.
The resident saw the two suspects jump a gate to the backyard of a home in the 1800 block of Alpine Drive around 9 a.m., according to the San Marino Police Department. The men wore hoodies and had their faces covered as they exited a black Lexus and ran to the home. “[The resident] knew the neighbors were not home at the time and called to report the suspicious activity,” San Marino Police said in a written statement. Officers surrounded the home and conducted a search with the help of South Pasadena, San Gabriel, Alhambra Police, two K-9 units and a Pasadena Police helicopter. A yard to yard search with the K9s yielded two hiding suspects in a neighboring yard, San Marino Police said. Arrested were Demein Coleman, 24, from Los Angeles, and Aaron Phillips, 24, of Lakewood. Both men were booked on suspicion of residential burglary, possessing stolen property and possession of burglary tools. Both men are scheduled to appear in Alhambra Municipal Court December 3. |
