Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN MARINO - Police are investigating a suspicious man who approached a resident, claiming to be conducting a research study.
The suspect approached a home and spoke to a resident in the 1700 block of Oxford Road around 4:05 p.m. The suspect claimed to be conducting a research study for the city of San Marino and provided the name of someone. He asked the resident if that person lived there, to which the resident replied no, San Marino Police said. The city did not authorize any persons to conduct a research study, San Marino Police said. The suspect left, only to return seven minutes later and contacted the resident again. “The resident became suspicious and informed the subject they would be contacting the police. Male subject walked away from the residence and got into his parked vehicle,” San Marino Police said. The suspect drove away northbound on Oxford Road towards Euston Road. The suspect is an Asian man, 25 to 30 years old, has a medium build, short hair and wore a blue long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up to the elbows. The suspect drove a grey, newer-model four-door BMW 540I with “New Century BMW” paper plates. Anyone who may have been contacted by the suspect is urged to call San Marino Police at 626-300-0720. |
