Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SOUTH EL MONTE - Two people are stuck in a tree surrounded by water and can’t get down inside the Whittier Narrows Recreational Area, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported. The victims are surrounded by about four to five feet of standing water, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. Firefighters were called at 12:23 p.m. to the 100 block of North Durfee Avenue. Firefighters initially called for an inflatable boat to aid in the rescue, but a helicopter has been summoned to hoist the victims from the tree. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SOUTH EL MONTE - Two armed men escaped with a wallet and cash in a daytime robbery Tuesday. The robbery occurred in the 9500 block of Garvey Avenue around 7:45 p.m. February 5. One man with a handgun, another with what was described as a rifle, robbed their victim of a wallet containing cash, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. It was unclear if the guns were replica or real.
One 20-something suspect, described as wearing a black shirt and green cargo pants, escaped in a white vehicle. The second suspect, described as in his 20s and wearing dark clothing, fled in a black vehicle. |
