Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SOUTH EL MONTE - What started as a grass fire quickly consumed 500 large, outdoor plastic containers and injured two firefighters Wednesday afternoon.
The fire, which was dispatched at 12:32 p.m., was virtually all but knocked down more than 30 minutes ago. The 500 containers housed an unknown substance initially believed to be flammable, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
