Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SOUTH PASADENA - Firefighters are investigating the cause of a blaze that eventually damaged two homes August 21. South Pasadena firefighters were dispatched just after 3 p.m. to a home in the 700 block of Charter Oak Street to smoke and flames through the roof. The flames then spread to the roof of a neighboring home, according to the South Pasadena Fire Department. No one was injured. Two pet cats were rescued while three others were unaccounted for, the South Pasadena Fire Department said.
Firefighters from surrounding departments were called to assist, including Alhambra, Pasadena, Los Angeles, San Marino and San Gabriel. Firefighters went into a defensive mode after the roof at one home collapsed. Moderate damage and total loss of a detached garage were reported at the other home, the South Pasadena Fire Department said. |
