Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor TEMPLE CITY - Sheriff’s deputies are planning a DUI/driver license checkpoint, scheduled for Friday, August 24 starting at 6 p.m.
The checkpoint, scheduled at an undisclosed location, will end Saturday at 2 a.m. Deputies will search for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, while checking motorists for proper licensing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “Studies of California drivers have shown that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes had one or more drugs in their systems. A study of active drivers showed more tested positive for drugs that may impair driving (14 percent) than did for alcohol (7.3 percent),” the Sheriff’s Temple Station said. “Of the drugs, marijuana was most prevalent, at 7.4 percent, slightly more than alcohol.” |
