TEMPLE CITY - The driver of a vintage roadster died when authorities said his unsafe speed caused him to lose control of the car and crash into a pole.

The driver was 33-year-old Temple City man Cameron Blaine Fish, according to Sarah Ardalani, public information officer with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Fish was identified as an off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy.

Crime stringer footage from the scene showed an American flag draped over the body of Fish. Deputies and California Highway Patrol officers were seen saluting the body as it was loaded into a coroner van that was given an escort to the coroner’s office.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Deputy Cameron Fish. On the early morning of Thursday, September 16, 2021, Deputy Fish was involved in a single-vehicle traffic accident and succumbed to his injuries,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement.

Fish was a 12-year veteran with the Sheriff’s Department. He joined the department May 15, 2009 and graduated from the Academy the following September 18.

Fish was assigned to Custody Division and Court Services Division. He served with distinction as a Bailiff at Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Fish, was reportedly north on Santa Anita Avenue around 2:10 a.m. when he lost control of his 1965 Cobra 427 roadster just north of Freer Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

“The Cobra roadster veered to the left off the road and onto a center median, striking a raised street sign and a light pole. The impact caused Mr. Doe to be ejected from his vehicle,” according to the CHP in a written statement.

Fish’s passenger, identified as Diana Whang, was transported by ground ambulance to County/USC Medical Center with moderate injuries to her head, the CHP said in a written statement.

It is not clear if Fish or Whang were wearing their seatbelts, or if alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in this crash.

TEMPLE CITY – A rollover crash killed one person at the scene and sent another to a trauma center, a Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor said.

The collision was reported at Santa Anita Avenue and Freer Street. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station called firefighters around 2:12 a.m., according to Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Initially it was believed that people were trapped in the vehicle, but no one was trapped. The surviving occupant suffered from critical injuries, Pittman told SGV CityWatch.

At 2:51 a.m., deputies wanred drivers to avoid Santa Anita Avenue from Daines Drive to Freer Street. It is unclear if the roadway remains closed. Phone calls to the Sheriff’s Temple Station were unanswered.

TEMPLE CITY – One man was killed, his brother wounded in a stabbing late Tuesday night, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s Temple Station were called to a reported stabbing victim just before 11 p.m. September 7 and found the victim suffering from multiple wounds. He was hospitalized and later pronounced dead, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

A second man, brother of the first victim, was also found with multiple stab wounds. He is being treated for his injuries.

The stabbing occurred in the 4800 block of Fiesta Avenue.

The Sheriff’s Information Bureau initially stated a man was in custody, but did not elaborate his possible relation to the men stabbed.
