CityWatch Editor TEMPLE CITY - Authorities announced the arrest of a 64-year-old man in connection with a deadly house fire that killed three people and injured four. Xuanhan Zhang was booked on suspicion of murder. He is being held in lieu of $2 million bail, according to Los Angeles County booking records. A reported argument led to the deadly fire, investigators said. Zhang, a resident where the fire happened, approached deputies at the scene during the subsequent investigation. It is unclear what, if anything, Zhang said to inspire deputies to detain him. Zhang was arrested at 1 a.m. Monday, which is also his birthday. First responders were sent to a house fire in the 6000 block of Sultana Avenue around 4:48 p.m. October 27. They reported a single-story, single-family home well-involved with flames. Two victims emerged from the burning home before first responders arrived. One victim found in a driveway suffered burns to his upper extremities. The second was to the front of the house and suffered similar burns, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. While extinguishing flames, firefighters discovered three victims dead inside. One of the victims was found deceased in a bed, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department radio traffic. The burning home was one of four residences on the property. None of the other residences were affected by the fire, according to the Los Angeles County sheriffs Department. Zhang is scheduled for an appearance in Alhambra Superior Court Wednesday, October 30. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner will determine cause of death. The victim was found inside a building in the 9100 block of Las Tunas Drive March 29. He was found with at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso. He was declared dead at the scene by firefighters, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The Sheriff’s Information Bureau states authorities were called to the area at 12:19 p.m., but the only dispatch for first responders came at 12:44 p.m. to East Las Tunas Dr and Loma Avenue at 12:44 p.m. The murdered man was described as being in his 30s. It is unclear if investigators have a suspect description, or if a suspect is in custody. Deputies responded to the 9200 block of Pentland Street on a report of domestic violence with a gunshot victim. Deputies discovered a 27-year-old woman suffering multiple gunshot wounds and 28-year-old man suffer a likely self-inflicted wound. Both died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “Three juveniles, ranging in age from 5 to 11, were removed from the home unharmed upon the deputies’ arrival. The three lived in the home and are believed to be the children of the deceased female victim,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. The unidentified suspect was detained in the 9400 block of Workman Avenue July 15. A previous statement issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported the victim died at the scene, but detectives now said the victim died at a hospital.

Firefighters and Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9400 block of Workman Avenue around 6:06 p.m. A gunshot victim was found and pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Kimberly Alexander of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. There is no suspect information available.
