Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VALINDA - Deputies have detained a man after arriving en mass to a home Friday morning after a call of an armed suspect in a Valinda neighborhood.
Deputies took the suspect into custody at a home in the area of Dubesor Street and Mullender Avenue just after 10 a.m. A caller reported to deputies that the suspect was armed with a handgun, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station. The suspect spent much time in the rear yard of a home on Dubesor Street and spoke to residents inside, the residents were later determined to be his sisters and mother, according to Industry Station radio traffic. A police helicopter was overhead and the suspect was given verbal commands over a loudspeaker to surrender. Deputies had much trouble getting the suspect to comply after he walked out to the street and got down on his knees under his own volition. Initially, deputies were told that gunfire was heard, but it is unclear if any shots were fired. Deputies are searching the home on Dubesor Street where the suspect apparently lives to find the handgun and are searching the neighborhood for any other evidence.
