Deputies are determining what property was stolen so it can be returned to the victim. The burglary was reported in the 17000 block of East Orkney Street. One suspect was found as far away as Azusa Avenue and Gladstone Street where he was located running in an apartment complex. VINCENT - One juvenile is in handcuffs, two more are outstanding after deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a home Tuesday. Deputies have a containment search in progress around the 17000 block of Orkney Street in the unincorporated community near Azusa. The suspects fled as deputies were arriving, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s radio traffic.
The two outstanding suspects are 15 to 17 years old, both are wearing dark hoodies and jeans. One was seen wearing a hat. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VINCENT - The California Highway Patrol will conduct a pedestrian safety operation on county streets near Azusa Tuesday, March 12. The operation will take place at Lark Ellen Avenue and Gladstone Street. Officers will focus on drivers and pedestrians who fail to yield the right-of-way, or who take unsafe and illegal actions, according to officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol Baldwin Park Office. Officers dressed in plain clothes will cross the street while uniformed officers will watch for drivers and pedestrians who fail to yield, Jimenez said.
The goal of these operations is to educate the community and to help develop safe practices while driving, walking or biking. From 2005 to 2018, CHP officers in this area have investigated 429 traffic collisions involving pedestrians in unincorporated areas, the most recent was a fatality at Don Julian Road at Pamela Kay Lane in Avocado Heights in January, 2018, Jimenez said. This operation is possible through a grant funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor VINCENT - Two suspects took roughly $400 in cash at gunpoint from a 7-Eleven late Saturday night. The robbery occurred just before 11 p.m. at the 7-Eleven, 5575 N. Azusa Ave., March 2. Both suspects wore black masks. One of them was armed with a black handgun, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. Both suspects were last seen fleeing on foot south on Azusa Avenue from the 7-Eleven and out of view. The suspects were around 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighed 200 pounds and wore dark shirts and dark pants. |
