Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor VINCENT - A high-speed chase ended with a crash after joyriding teens tried to escape pursuing Irwindale Officers Thursday night.
The four suspects crashed a stolen Hyundai Sonata into another parked vehicle at Gragmont Street and Enid Avenue. Three juveniles were detained without incident, while a fourth fled on foot and over a fence before being detained, said Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. An Irwindale Officer began pursuing the juveniles after the driver fled a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation around 9:53 p.m. in the 5200 block of Rivergrade Road, Gatto said. The pursuit entered the south 605 freeway to the east I-10 freeway. The chase exited north on Azusa Avenue and entered West Covina, Covina along Azusa Avenue and some side streets before crashing near Gladstone High School. The teen injured after climbing over a fence was treated at the scene by Los Angeles County Firefighters before being hospitalized as a precaution, Gatto said. The red Hyundai Sonata was reported stolen from Glendale, Gatto said. Vincent is a census designated place, an unincorporated county area near Covina and Azusa. |
