The driver evaded Industry deputies into West Covina just after 10 p.m. The pursuit continued slowly onto Lakes Drive from Vincent Avenue. The driver stopped briefly and appeared to be giving up, but continued to drive until he finally surrendered near Regal Edwards Theater. The suspect finally surrendered without further incident. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - A helicopter helped police search for a man described as a wanted felon who ran from them Friday night. The unidentified suspect fled officers during a traffic stop in the area of Cameron Avenue and Azusa Avenue around 9:30 p.m. July 13, according to Lt. Jeff Munn of the West Covina Police Department.
Munn declined to specify who the wanted felon is, what he was wanted for or even why officers initiated a traffic stop. No other suspects were outstanding. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - The suspect accused of a fatal shooting in Baldwin Park June 28 was arrested Tuesday, Sheriff’s homicide detectives said. Gregory Thomas Kingsbury, 37, was found and arrested at a West Covina home July 2. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail and is scheduled for an appearance in Pomona Superior Court July 5. Kingsbury is accused of pulling the trigger on his still publicly unidentified brother in the 14600 block of Demblon Street. Baldwin Park Police officers found the injured man. He later died at a hospital.
Kingsbury fled in a grey 2012 Nissan Altima which was found abandoned and later recovered. A motive for the killing is either unknown or has not been publicly provided. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - Two victims of a shooting are expected to survive their wounds after being fired upon inside a vehicle, West Covina Police said. The victims were shot in the area of Cameron Avenue and California Avenue around 9 p.m. June 30 as they drove into an apartment complex. Gunfire came from another vehicle, according to West Covina Police. The victims were hospitalized for treatment.
Industry deputies were told that a black Scion was involved, but it is unclear if the Scion was the suspect vehicle. The West Covina shooting occurred hours after a fatal shooting in La Puente that left a man dead and second man injured. |
