Police learned of the stabbing after responding to a local hospital to investigate two stabbing victims. There was apparently a struggle between the men and the suspect who stabbed both of them, West Covina Police said. The extent of injuries was not immediately known.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. in the 700 block of North Azusa Avenue. An SGV CityWatch reader observed much police activity at the Azusa Grande Apartments, 800 N. Azusa Ave. Police tape cordoned off the area. Police officers were busy speaking with residents and photographing a potential crime scene. The suspect is only described as a man in his 20s. he wore black hair, stood 5 feet 8 inches tall and wore a grey shirt and dark pants. The crash occurred on the westbound I-10 freeway just east of Barranca Street around 7:09 p.m. There were no reported injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol. The trailer was ripped apart and spilled debris across the No. 4 & 5 lanes, with some debris spilling below onto Garvey Avenue, the CHP said.
What caused the trailer to overturn was not immediately clear. The Jeep Patriot driven by a man accused of a carjacking in Baldwin Park was found in West Covina around 2 a.m. near Durness Street and South Sandy Hook Street October 12. The driver refused to stop for police and fled officers until crashing on northbound Glendora Avenue at Cameron Avenue, according to the West Covina Police Department. Two adults in the eastbound vehicle struck by the suspect were ejected and died at the scene. A child in the vehicle was hospitalized, West Covina Police said. Gracie Contreras, 53, and Edward Contreras, 55, were identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Both were Covina residents. The 2010 Jeep Patriot was reported carjacked around 1 a.m. in Baldwin Park by a knife-wielding suspect at Hilda Solis Park, Baldwin Park Police said. West Covina Police began searching for the vehicle once officers were notified the Jeep was last seen entering the city. The California Highway Patrol Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash. 24-year-old Jose Millan died from a gunshot wound to the torso, according to Investigator Kristy McCracken of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The manner of death is listed as homicide. Police received an anonymous call just after 6:30 p.m. October 6 of a possible dead body near the Big League Dreams sports complex, 2100 S. Azusa Ave., according to the West Covina Police Department. the body was found within the transient camp outside of the sports complex property. It is unclear if a suspect has been identified or arrested.
