Malerie Santos and Adrian Fuentes, both 20 years old, were identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. Both victims died at the scene of blunt trauma and there were no other contributing factors in their deaths which were ruled accidental. The crash occurred on Amar Road at Westport Street. First responders were called around 5:10 p.m. November 23, according to the West Covina Police Department. It is not immediately known what direction of travel each vehicle was in at the time of the crash, but it appears, given where the bodies were located, that the motorcycle was headed westbound on Amar Road. The occupants in the sedan and SUV involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. The West Covina Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is determining what led to the crash. Samantha Vuong was found in her room, a gun used to end her life, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. “Samantha Vuong was the sweetest, most beloved, and an amazing artistically bright 16-year-old West Covina High School student, on her junior year. Tragically on Monday morning, 3.27.2023, she passed away in her room,” according to Akura-Jade Vuong, Samantha’s older sister. The West Covina Unified School District issued a statement the morning of Vuong’s death. “We understand that this news will come as a shock to many of you, and we want to extend our deepest sympathies to the student’s family and friends during this difficult time. Losing a member of the WCUSD family is tragic, and we are deeply saddened by this loss,” according to WCUSD Superintendent of Schools Emy Flores. Maliki Foust, Jr., 22, was found shot to death in a vehicle. Majarion Foust, 19, was wounded and later died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Maliki, listed as a Victorville resident, died from multiple gunshot wounds. His manner of death was homicide. Majarion has a pending examination, according to coroner records. Both men died in the 3400 block of South Sentous Avenue. West Covina Police officers were called around 10:45 p.m. November 2. It is not publicly clear if investigators have identified any suspects. First responders located a 66-year-old man unresponsive outside Vons, 777 S. Glendora Ave., June 25 after being called just after 8 p.m. Paramedics found the man not breathing and pronounced him deceased, according to the West Covina Police Department. “The decedent was a 66-year-old male who had a history of medical issues. No foul play is suspected,” according to the West Covina Police Department in a written statement. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner was not readily available to identify the man. Officers were called to a welfare check at The Colony, 301 S. Glendora Ave. around 3 p.m. April 7. The male was apparently a resident, according to Lt. Brian Daniels of the West Covina Police Department. The cause of death has yet to be determined. Coroner investigators arrived by about 7 p.m. to take possession of the body, according to Aimee Earl, investigator with the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Luyllin Garcia, a 28-year-old transient, was identified by Sarah Ardalani, public information officer for the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. The cause of Garcia’s death has been deferred pending additional investigation. Garcia’s body was found after he either fell, or jumped from the third level of a parking structure near the Lakes Shopping Mall Saturday, October 24, a West Covina Police lieutenant said. Officers were called to the parking structure north of the Regal Edwards Cinemas around 11:25 p.m. Investigators do not suspect foul play, according to Lt. Jeff Munn of the West Covina Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor LOS ANGELES - Coroner investigators identified Wednesday the man found dead along a West Covina Street. Anthony Zepeda, 28, died from gunshot wounds of the torso. His death was ruled a homicide, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Zepeda’s body was found on a sidewalk in the 2100 block of West Garvey Avenue North around 6:53 a.m.
Zepeda is listed as a transient. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide detectives initially stated Zepeda died from multiple stab wounds. |
