WEST COVINA – An accused robbery suspect was found and arrested January 9 in Claremont, hours after pushing his victim down to steal her cellphone.
Sean Dwight Taylor, 23, was found in Claremont coffee shop and detained by Claremont Police until West Covina officers could arrest him on suspicion of robbery, according to Cpl. Rudy Lopez of the West Covina Police Department.
Taylor’s victim was loading groceries into her parked vehicle at Eastland Center, 2753 Eastland Center Dr., around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Taylor allegedly approached his victim from behind, shoved her and stole her cellphone from her rear pocket and fled.
“Later that evening, the victim’s husband checked her Life 360 App which was downloaded on her cellphone and it showed that the cellphone was at a location in the City of Claremont,” Lopez said.
Claremont Police arrived to the coffee shop in the 800 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard, located a man matching the suspect’s description and found him in possession of the victim’s cellphone Lopez said.
Taylor, an Upland man, is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
