The collision occurred around 10:12 p.m. in the center divider on Ramona Boulevard. At least two occupants of one of the vehicles were trapped after the wreck, according to Inspector David Michel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Of those six patients, five met trauma center criteria and of those five, four were critical patients, Michel said. The collision between a minivan and red truck is a Baldwin Park Police investigation. California Highway Patrol traffic logs indicated that at least one person died in the collision, but the Baldwin Park Police day shift supervisor has not answered calls, or returned a message inquiring about the crash. All patients were taken by ground ambulances to nearby hospitals. The rider crashed into a vehicle while fleeing westbound on the 210 freeway east of Grand Avenue, sending the motorcyclist down pavement and the motorcycle skidding across freeway lanes. Officers attempted to stop the rider around 1:32 a.m. for speeding at Ramona Boulevard and Main Avenue, but the rider refused to stop, according to Sgt. Blackburn of the Baldwin Park Police Department. The rider led officers on a high-speed pursuit east on Badillo Street into San Dimas and east on Covina Boulevard. The pursuit entered the north 57 freeway and transitioned to the westbound 210 freeway where the crash occurred. “The rider was treated this morning at a local hospital and he was in stable condition,” Blackburn said. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. The three children reportedly suffered critical injuries in the crash between a dark sedan and a white sedan, which overturned, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department and CHP. The collision was reported in the HOV lane around 7 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. At least one other occupant was critically injured, while a fifth received minor injuries. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor BALDWIN PARK - A press conference will be held at 11 a.m. regarding the July 10 hit-and-run death that left a Riverside motorcyclist dead. Daniel Gutierrez, 39, died at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center after being hit in a multi-vehicle crash on the eastbound 60 freeway at Grand Avenue. A red, older-model Freightliner that reportedly initiated the collision fled the scene and exited at Grand Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Corolla’s driver, a 25-year-old Pomona woman, accelerated to get out from between the two freightliners. The Corolla caught the front bumper of the red freightliner and veered across traffic lanes, striking the center divider, the CHP said.
The Corolla bounced back into traffic lanes, striking Gutierrez and his motorcycle in the No. 1 lane, the CHP said. Arriving CHP officers found Gutierrez inside the detached rear bumper of the Toyota. The press conference will be held at the CHP Baldwin Park Office, 14039 Franciscquito Avenue. The sig alert affects the northbound 605 freeway connector road to the eastbound I-10 freeway. The No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes of traffic are affected by the spill. Drivers were seen using the right shoulder to pass, according to the California Highway Patrol. The semi overturned around 8:28 a.m. |
