The incident occurred on West Point Drive near Mills Avenue. After taking property from the motor home, the suspects left the area in a Gold Toyota Corolla, according to the Claremont Police Department. A responding officer stopped the suspect vehicle and searched the Corolla. Property from the motorhome was discovered, Claremont Police said. Officers discovered the motorhome had been ransacked. In addition to the stolen property found inside the vehicle, officers found methamphetamine and needles in the suspects’ possession. The unidentified suspect was seen by an officer arriving to investigate a burglary alarm call at Hendrix pharmacy, 137 N. Harvard Ave., in The Claremont Village Around 2:30 a.m. The suspect was walking away from the pharmacy and ran from the officer who attempted to stop him, according to the Claremont Police Department. The suspect was caught a short distance from the pharmacy. The suspect shattered a glass door to enter the pharmacy where he allegedly stole lottery tickets, promethazine and other medications, reportedly found in the suspects backpack. The suspect was booked on suspicion of commercial burglary, Claremont Police said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor CLAREMONT - A couple of heels were arrested September 30, part of a group of suspects who smashed their way in and stole shoes from a store, police said. Andrew Simon, a 41-year-old Pomona man, and 26-year-old Chanelle Hall of La Quinta were caught carrying shoes at Yale Avenue north of First Street. The store burglarized was Authentix Sneaker and Clothing Botique, Claremont Police said. A vigilant caller reported the group of burglars around 11:44 p.m. Saturday. Officers found a glass panel was smashed at the store, 143 Harvard Ave. The rest of the group fled south on College Avenue across the railroad tracks. They have yet to be found, Claremont Police said.
“The Claremont Police Department is trying to identify the other suspects involved in the burglary. They are only described by witnesses as black males in their late teens,” Claremont Police said. Officers discovered a grocery bag of cigarettes, two sets of oversized bolt cutters, pry bars, torches and butane tanks inside a Dodge Charger occupied by two men December 25. Police stopped the Charger with paper plates around 4:40 a.m. after seeing it parked at Peppertree Square at Indian Hill Boulevard and Arrow Highway, Claremont Police said. Polcie searched the Charger after discovering the driver was unlicensed, Claremont Police said. A large torch in a black bag was discovered near a pillar at the front of Smokeology, 348 S. Indian Hill Blvd. The suspects revealed they intended to burglarize Smokeology, but fled when the officers showed up, Claremont Police said. The stolen cigarettes were taken in Chino. Arrested were 20-year-old Joaquin Gonzalez, from Anaheim, and 31-year-old Cain Ramirez, from Pomona. Both men were booked on suspicion of attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property. Gonzalez was additionally booked on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while unlicensed. The three suspects were witnessed by a passerby as they reportedly burglarized a Jamba Juice and the neighboring Poke Dot, 175 N. Indian Hill Ave., just after midnight October 29. The driver fled the suspect vehicle as officers arrived. One of the three passengers took the wheel and led police on a pursuit, according to the Claremont Police Department. The suspect who fled on foot is still outstanding. The pursuit sped along the west I-10 freeway and north on the 605. The pursuit transitioned to the west 210 freeway and to the west 134. The suspects entered surfaces streets from the south 2 freeway where the three suspects in the vehicle fled on foot in the area of West Avenue 40 and Delevan Street in Los Angeles, according to Claremont Police radio traffic. The California Highway Patrol, Glendale Police officers and a helicopter assisted Claremont in tracking down the suspects. Evidence found in the suspect vehicle linked all three suspects to the burglary, Claremont Police said. A sledgehammer was apparently used to gain access to at least one of the businesses, according to Claremont Police radio traffic. Arrested were Lancaster man Jailyn Cottrell, 18, Palmdale man Davine Bruce, 18, and a 15-year-old boy. Cottrell was booked on suspicion of felony evading officers, burglary, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and conspiracy to commit a crime. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. Bruce was booked on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and conspiracy to commit a crime. His bail set at $20,000. The boy, a Long Beach resident, was booked on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and conspiracy to commit a crime. He is being held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall in Downey. |
