Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A suspect simulated a handgun and demanded cash, escaping with cash from Chase Bank Saturday morning, a Sheriff’s sergeant said. A 9-1-1 call was made from Chase Bank, 334 S. Diamond Bar Blvd., at 10:57 a.m. January 4. The suspect fled with $1,000, according to Sgt. Anderson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station. Roughly 20 minutes after the robbery occurred, deputies located a grey Mustang they believed was connected to the robbery. It was followed from near West Mission Boulevard and South Huntington Street to East Phillips Boulevard and South San Antonio Avenue.
The driver and vehicle were not involved in the robbery, Anderson said. The suspect was described as a white man in his 50s, Anderson said. A Sheriff’s crime broadcast further described the suspect as wearing a grey hat, grey hooded sweatshirt and he sported a reddish beard and mustache. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - Deputies arrested a 45-year-old Chino Hills man who is accused of threatening to shoot up a school after becoming upset he missed his child’s choir performance. Deputies were called by the vice principal to Chaparral Middle School, 1405 Spruce Tree Dr., just after 7:30 p.m. October 17. The suspect missed his child’s performance at a choir concert, causing him to become irate. “It was his son’s recital. He made a statement that he’s going to leave the place and come back with guns to shoot up the school,” according to Lt. Avila of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station.
Authorities were called after the suspect left the school. Deputies searched and found him at nearby Rainbow Donuts, 1271 S. Diamond Bar Blvd. He was positively identified as the man who allegedly threatened the school, Avila said. The unidentified suspect was booked on suspicion of making threats with intent to terrorize. He was transferred to the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles to be treated for an existing medical issue, Avila said. The operation was held on Diamond Bar Boulevard and Highland Valley Road from 6 p.m. Friday, August 9 to 2 a.m. Saturday, August 10. In addition to the driver arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, one other driver was arrested on suspicion of felony identity theft and misdemeanor possession of drugs, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. No other suspects are apparently outstanding in the 1000 block of Banner Ridge Road where a suspect was taken into custody after fleeing through residential yards just before 11:30 a.m.
A Diamond Bar deputy assisted Pomona Police as they pursued the driver through Diamond Bar streets. It is unclear why Pomona Police were chasing the suspect who requested medics after being taken into custody. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - Three men fled with an undisclosed amount of money after they pepper-sprayed their victims during a daytime robbery Tuesday. The robbery occurred in the Walmart lot, 1180 S. Diamond Bar Blvd., just before 1:20 p.m. after the couple left a nearby bank March 26. Two suspects exited a red four-door car and began robbing the couple. The husband fought back, according to Lt. Avila of the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sherriff’s Station. One of the suspects released pepper spray during the robbery. The money was inside some kind of case or bag when it was taken.
The husband may have received abrasions after fighting back. Medics were called to the scene, Avila said. The two suspects entered a waiting vehicle and fled south towards the 60 freeway. All three suspects were described as Black men. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A 39-year-old man was hospitalized with multiple lacerations to his limbs Saturday after being found at a church. Deputies were called to a possible burglary in progress on Sunset Crossing Road March 3 around 1 p.m. Deputies were then directed to a church where a man, the possible burglary suspect, was found severely bleeding. The suspect was found at Global Mission Church, 23425 Sunset Crossing Rd, according to Capt. Ron Singleton of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched at 1:14 p.m. and found the suspect with a crush injury and laceration to an arm and lacerations to his legs, Singleton said.
Deputies are investigating if the injuries were self-inflicted, according to Sgt. Cardoza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station. Cardoza did not immediately know where the original burglary call was reported at. According to witnesses, the suspect entered the church already injured, Cardoza said. The suspect was treated and later hospitalized. The robbery occurred around 12:50 a.m. at the restaurant, 1383 S. Diamond Bar Blvd. At least two suspects were armed. All men wore dark, hooded sweatshirts and the hoods covered the suspects’ faces except their eyes, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station. All four suspects, described as Black men in their mid-20s, fled eastbound on foot. It is unknown if the suspects entered a vehicle. The death was discovered after 3 p.m. in the 21000 block of Trigger Lane, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Los Angeles County Firefighters we’re called to the location at 3:06 p.m. It is unclear if deputies have identified a suspect. Two male victims were stabbed in the back with what deputies described as a kitchen knife at Dilliwala Indian Kitchen, 303 S. Diamond Bar Blvd. around 10:40 p.m. The incident was described as an assault with a deadly weapon after initially being reported as a robbery, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station. What led to the stabbing was not disclosed.
One of the suspects was described as a white man, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 250 pounds. He wore a black hat with the letter “J” on it, deputies said. The suspects may have fled in a black four-door Toyota Camry. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DIAMOND BAR - A man was severely beaten, left bloodied and semi-conscious in a residential neighborhood Sunday night after being attacked by two suspects who took cash from him, a Sheriff’s sergeant said. Deputies responded to the 2200 block of Evergreen Springs Drive around 10 p.m. January 6. Possibly two men approached the victim, beat him and stole $20,000, a cellphone and his wallet, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Industry Station crime broadcast.
“He [the victim] was pretty bloodied up when we got there,” said Sgt. D. Luter of the Industry Sheriff’s Station. “There were no weapons. It was all hands and feet.”
Deputies are still acquiring details, but believe the victim may have come home with casino winnings. The suspects may have followed the victim home, Luter said. The victim was hospitalized.
