Firefighters responded to a reported bee swarm in the 23600 block of Tellgate Drive just after 4 p.m. July 24 and reported a large swarm that killed a dog. The residents and other dogs were able to retreat into the home, according to a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters were unable to locate the hive and requested vector control to respond to the scene. Bruce Bodel, 72, was hit as he was walking northbound on Penarth Avenue at Lycoming Street at 10:30 p.m. July 4. Bodel was hospitalized, but died from his wounds days later. The driver of a silver sedan fled the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Evidence recovered indicated the silver sedan sustained damage to the front, including a cracked windshield, the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. “This has devastated my family. He always liked to go out for walks; that was just his habit. Rather than taking a car he would take a bike or he would walk. He was a vegetarian, he’d never hurt a fly. So anybody who could help bring my uncle justice would be greatly appreciated,” said Bodel’s niece, Jessica. The vehicle reportedly fled sough on Lemon Avenue. The pedestrian was struck at 10:30 p.m. July 4 in the intersection of Lycoming Street and Penarth Avenue. The pedestrian was walking northbound on Penarth crossing Lycoming Street when a westbound sedan struck the victim and fled, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station. The victim died days later. The gray or silver two-door sedan was last seen fleeing southbound on Lemon Avenue. Both were found inside a home in the 1500 block of Kiowa Crest Drive, May 21. They were only describe as a male Asian adult and a female Asian adult. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County firefighters, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Deputies with the Sheriff’s Diamond Bar/Walnut Station initially responded around 9:52 p.m. to a report of two unresponsive people inside the home. No other details are available. The California Highway Patrol responded just after 1 a.m. to a report of pedestrian laying in the slow lane April 29. The HOV and No. 1 lanes were able to remain open for most of the investigation. By 3:47 a.m., all lanes were opened for traffic, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. It is unclear if the pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit and run driver. Reports from the scene indicated a Dodge Charger stalled in the No. 1 lane. The motorcyclist struck the rear of the Charger around 9:40 p.m. and landed an estimated 20 feet onto the roadway, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. A white van reportedly struck the downed motorcycle and rider who landed in front of the stalled Charger. By around 11 p.m., authorities had all eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway just west of Grand Avenue shut down, as well as the flyover from the northbound 57 freeway to the eastbound 60 freeway, according to the CHP. By 1:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities had all lanes open after the crash was cleared and the coroner removed the body, according to the CHP. Deputies responded at 3:21 a.m. to the 1100 block of Cleghorn Drive Wednesday on a report of a man bleeding from the head. The man was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. After arriving, deputies noted the victim, only described as a Hispanic man in his 60s, suffered an unknown blunt force trauma wound to the head, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The death was reported to deputies at 3:21 a.m. in the 1100 block of Cleghorn Drive July 29. The man was declared dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Firefighters were dispatched at 3:18 a.m. to the location. They arrived on scene at 3:22 a.m. to a report of a patient in cardiac arrest, according to a representative with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Initially, firefighters were told the patient suffered a head injury. There was no more information. There is no suspect information at this time. The suspect, only described as a male, fled officers who tried to conduct a traffic stop on South Reservoir Street near the off ramp from the eastbound 60 freeway in Pomona, according to Public Information Officer Aly Mejia of the Pomona Police Department. The pursuit began around 2:30 a.m. January 21.
The pursuit entered Diamond Bar where the rider crashed, Mejia said. Firefighters were called by Pomona Police to the area of West Mission Boulevard and West Temple Avenue at 2:40 a.m. to a solo motorcycle crash, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fatality crash is being investigated by deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Walnut/Diamond Bar Station. An unspecified number of sedans and an SUV may have been involved in the collision in the middle lanes of the eastbound 60 freeway at Grand Avenue, which was first reported to authorities at 4:44 a.m. August 4. One driver reported seeing a body in traffic lanes.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating a report from the scene that a male driver fled the crash. One other person was critically injured and hospitalized. All eastbound lanes of the 60 freeway at Grand Avenue were closed at 5:34 a.m. The Sig Alert was extended eventually. All lanes were open by 9:48 a.m. |
