The burglary in the 800 block of Beckville Street is believed to have occurred between 9 p.m. November 28 and 6 a.m. November 29. A window screen was forced open at the residence and access was gained through an unlocked window. “Suspect(s) unknown stole a cat that the victim had rescued. No other items appeared to have been stolen,” according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in a written statement. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - Two suspects made a daring burglary August 15, taking nearly $1,400 from the cash registers after breaking through the drive-through window at El Pollo Loco, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
The burglary took place around 5 a.m. at the restaurant, 1212 Huntington Dr. $1,385 was stolen from the location and $2,300 in damage was caused during the break-in, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The burglary was caught on surveillance cameras. It is not publicly clear if any arrests have been made in the days since the burglary. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - A cargo container was broken into at Duarte High School recently, with an estimated loss of $12,000 in electrical equipment and instruments, authorities said. The burglary was reported to deputies November 15. Someone discovered a hole was cut into the cargo container at the high school, 1565 Central Ave. The burglary is believed to have taken place between 2 p.m. October 5 and 3 p.m. November 15, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. At the time of the November 25 report, no surveillance footage was found. There is no suspect description. The burglary occurred at Cowboy Mex International, 1318 Duarte Rd. The estimated loss to the store was $8,675, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies did not specify how entry was made into the business. There is no suspect description available. The burglary occurred in the 300 block of Mel Canyon Road between 7:50 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. October 15. Deputies determined an unknown number of suspects gained access through an unlocked bedroom window, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Several electronic devices and money was taken. It is unclear if deputies have a description of a suspect or suspects. The suspect burglarized a home in the 800 block of Crestfield Drive between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. The unknown suspect took a Coca-Cola from the refrigerator. The homeowner returned to find the refrigerator door open and the soda sitting on a counter, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. At the time of the report was made, it was unclear if anything was stolen, deputies said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor DUARTE - Five reported vehicle burglaries have been reported in a roughly five-day period, deputies said Tuesday. The burglaries occurred from about March 24 to March 29. Deputies noted that the burglaries occurred as a result of personal property being left out in plain view. Two burglaries were reported between Wednesday, March 24 to Thursday, March 25 in the 1300 block of Royal Oaks Drive. In both cases the front driver-side windows to the sedans were smashed. Only one vehicle had property taken, though, deputies said. A burglary was reported in the 2200 block of Huntington Drive Monday, March 25 between 4:15 a.n 5 a.m. Snow chains were taken after a rear passenger window to a Cadillac Escalade was smashed. A burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Huntington Drive at the 99 Cents Only Store March 26 at 8 a.m. A backpack was taken after a rear passenger window was smashed to a car.
A burglary was reported between Thursday, March 28 and Friday, March 28 after a lock was removed from a Chevrolet Silverado truck. Sunglasses and more than $4,000 in plumbing tools were taken. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor DUARTE - An unknown suspect disconnected the security cameras at a sushi restaurant in early September and made off with thousands in cash, deputies said.
The grand theft was reported at Sushi Fire, 1723 Huntington Dr., between the hours of 11 p.m. September 1 and 10 a.m. September 2. Approximately $2,000 was taken, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The money was placed behind the counter after closing time with only employees still present, deputies said. Management realized the security cameras were disconnected when trying to check the footage. The investigation is ongoing. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor DUARTE - Two burglary suspects fled, one dropped a cash register, after a deputy spotted them leaving a burglarized restaurant late last month.
The suspects fled Baklava Land Bakery and Café, 1431 Huntington Dr., early in the morning May 29 after being spotted by a deputy who was patrolling the business, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The suspects entered the business by smashing through the glass front doors. The register was dumped in some nearby bushes. A containment search eventually yielded two hiding suspects who were booked on suspicion of burglary. Arrested were 22-year-old Jesse Santoyo and 26-year-old Dion Fredrick. Fredrick and Santoyo were arrested at 2:37 a.m. Fredrick is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic awaiting an appearance at Alhambra Superior Court June 15, according to Los Angeles County booking records. Santoyo was released May 29 and had a scheduled appearance at Alhambra Superior Court May 31. |
