Detectives identified a newer-model silver Audi four-door sedan with a sunroof, an older-model burgundy four-door sedan with right front end traffic collision damage and a newer-model silver four-door sedan, all seen in the immediate area after the shooting, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The newer-model silver four-door sedan was last seen in the area of Figueroa Avenue and Navarro Street. The shooting occurred at 12:33 p.m. as the deputy was driving northbound in the 2500 block of Fair Oaks Avenue. One of the two suspects pointed a firearm in the deputy’s direction and fired several gunshots, detectives said. The deputy was uninjured. The deputy reportedly witnessed a crime in progress at the scene where the two suspects were at with a group of people. It is not yet clear publicly what crime may have been occurring before the gunfire erupted. Both suspects are believed to be Hispanic. One suspect removed a black jacket and shoes well fleeing the shooting. The second suspect’s white jacket was also found discarded nearby, detectives said. The three suspects were located by Pasadena police officers in Pasadena Sunday afternoon. Sheriff’s detectives and investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Operation Safe Streets Bureau took the three men into custody, the sheriffs department said. Deputies were on the hunt for three suspects in a silver or gray sedan, described as a possible Nissan Maxima. The shootings occurred throughout Altadena starting just after Noon with one man wounded in the 3100 block of Santa Anita Avenue around 12:11 p.m., according to Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. A 49-year-old Black man was found wounded at the location, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Shootings were reported at two different liquor stores in the 2600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue 30 minutes after the first shooting. No victims were found, deputies said. A 31-year-old black man was found wounded after gunfire rang out in the 3100 block of Olive Avenue, just 10 minutes after the shootings on Fair Oaks Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. A shooting was also reported in a 200 block of W. Harriet St. Shortly after, the three suspects were arrested. Motives for the shootings are either unknown, or have not been publicly shared yet. A nearby surveillance camera caught both suspects fleeing. Both suspects shed some of their clothing as they ran. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - A hiker enjoying the still-closed trails above Altadena Sunday escaped serious injury when a mother bear stood her ground to protect her cubs Sunday. The hiker was coming back down from a hike when he came face to face with the bear and her two cubs on the Lower Sam Merrill Trail. The mother bear stood on her hands legs and took a swipe at the hiker, according to the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team. The hiker received several scrapes from the bear to his upper right arm. The hiker locates the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team members who were training at Cobb Estate. He was treated for his superficial wounds and reminded of the trail closures. “Because of the fire, animals are more active than usual in areas frequented by humans. You shouldn't be on the trails, but if you ignore the closure, which you shouldn’t do, watch out for wildlife. Their home has been ravaged by the fire and many are looking for food, water and shelter,” according to the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team in a written statement.
The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team is composed of reserve deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. A man was stabbed in the 600 block of Devirian Place. Firefighters were called around 9:19 p.m. Sunday. Deputies responded to a neighborhood around 1:30 p.m. March 5 to at least one report of a man acting suspiciously in the 2000 block of Crarie Street. The suspect fled southbound towards Pasadena, According to Lt. Sanchez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station. Pasadena Police assisted deputies with searching for the suspect. Nearby Marshall Fundamental School, 990 N. Allen Ave., was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution. The Pasadena Police Department released a statement, saying that students were not in imminent danger.
The search was ended roughly two hours later without a suspect in custody, Sanchez told SGV CityWatch. The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic man wearing black pants and no shirt, Sanchez said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is continuing to investigate the shooting death, which occurred around 1 p.m., in the 2400 block of Canyada Avenue. Deputies responding to a gunfire call found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso near Canyada Avenue and Figueroa Drive. The victim was reportedly driving when an unknown suspect fired upon him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim, only described as a 45-year-old Black man, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, deputies said. The suspect fired multiple rounds in the 2000 block of Canyada Avenue and reportedly drove away.
Deputies focused on a house where the suspect was thought to be. With the help of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, the home was cleared. No suspect was found. The shooting occurred on West Figueroa Drive near North Canyada Avenue just after 1 p.m. February 16, according to the Los Angeles county fire department. The sheriffs department has yet to publicly provide a suspect description, if one exists. The arrests and seizure of the guns and contraband took place within the last two weeks along Fairoaks Drive. One of the guns taken was later discovered stolen, the Sheriff’s Department said.
