A deputy driving northbound in her marked patrol car was fired upon in the 2500 block of Fair Oaks Avenue at 12:33 p.m. December 4. Both suspects fled on foot from the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The deputy was uninjured.
A nearby surveillance camera caught both suspects fleeing. Both suspects shed some of their clothing as they ran. The incident occurred around 12:33 p.m. in the area of Fair Oaks Avenue and Calaveras Street December 4, according to Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. “Multiple gunshots were fired at her, but luckily she was not struck,” Ortiz said in a written statement. Both suspects were described as Black men in their 20s. There was no clothing description. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - A hiker enjoying the still-closed trails above Altadena Sunday escaped serious injury when a mother bear stood her ground to protect her cubs Sunday. The hiker was coming back down from a hike when he came face to face with the bear and her two cubs on the Lower Sam Merrill Trail. The mother bear stood on her hands legs and took a swipe at the hiker, according to the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team. The hiker received several scrapes from the bear to his upper right arm. The hiker locates the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team members who were training at Cobb Estate. He was treated for his superficial wounds and reminded of the trail closures. “Because of the fire, animals are more active than usual in areas frequented by humans. You shouldn't be on the trails, but if you ignore the closure, which you shouldn’t do, watch out for wildlife. Their home has been ravaged by the fire and many are looking for food, water and shelter,” according to the Altadena Mountain Rescue Team in a written statement.
The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team is composed of reserve deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Stationed out of the Altadena Sheriff’s Station, rescuers are available for calls on a 24/7 basis. The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team is one of eight teams countywide composed of 120 total members. A man was stabbed in the 600 block of Devirian Place. Firefighters were called around 9:19 p.m. Sunday. Deputies responded to a neighborhood around 1:30 p.m. March 5 to at least one report of a man acting suspiciously in the 2000 block of Crarie Street. The suspect fled southbound towards Pasadena, According to Lt. Sanchez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station. Pasadena Police assisted deputies with searching for the suspect. Nearby Marshall Fundamental School, 990 N. Allen Ave., was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution. The Pasadena Police Department released a statement, saying that students were not in imminent danger.
The search was ended roughly two hours later without a suspect in custody, Sanchez told SGV CityWatch. The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic man wearing black pants and no shirt, Sanchez said. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is continuing to investigate the shooting death, which occurred around 1 p.m., in the 2400 block of Canyada Avenue. Deputies responding to a gunfire call found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso near Canyada Avenue and Figueroa Drive. The victim was reportedly driving when an unknown suspect fired upon him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim, only described as a 45-year-old Black man, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, deputies said. The suspect fired multiple rounds in the 2000 block of Canyada Avenue and reportedly drove away.
Deputies focused on a house where the suspect was thought to be. With the help of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, the home was cleared. No suspect was found. The shooting occurred on West Figueroa Drive near North Canyada Avenue just after 1 p.m. February 16, according to the Los Angeles county fire department. The sheriffs department has yet to publicly provide a suspect description, if one exists. The arrests and seizure of the guns and contraband took place within the last two weeks along Fairoaks Drive. One of the guns taken was later discovered stolen, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team and county firefighters rescued a man who slipped, fell and injured himself in Eaton Canyon Saturday. The 32-year-old victim was located 50 feet over the side of the Mt. Wilson Toll Road one-quarter mile up from the trailhead. He suffered back pain, leg pain and a head laceration, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Altadena Station.
Rescuers responded around 7:15 a.m. November 30. Firefighters hiked in to locate the victim. After the hiker was located, an Altadena Mountain Rescue Team member was lowered to the victim to begin treatment. A Los Angeles County Fire Department Helicopter hoisted the hiker who was flown to Huntington Memorial Hospital. The crimes were publicized in the Altadena Sheriff’s Station weekly crime blotter. A residential burglary occurred in the 1700 block of East Mendocino Street between 7:10 a.m. and 2 p.m. A suspect or suspects entered the home through unknown means. It is unclear what was stolen, deputies said. A residential burglary was reported in the 3600 block of Monterosa Drive between 10:55 a.m. and 8:35 p.m. A rear sliding glass door was shattered to gain entry. Jewelry was taken from the home in a yellow pillow case, deputies said. Another residential burglary was reported this one any 2000 block of Holliston Avenue between Noon and 3:30 p.m. Unknown suspects shattered a window and were able to disable a burglary alarm. It is unknown what was stolen.
A residential burglary was reported in the 1300 block of East Woodbury Road. between 2:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Jewelry was reported stolen from the home after an unknown number of suspects shattered a rear window. A black wallet containing credit cards was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 2500 block of East Washington Boulevard between 5:50 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. deputies said. Unknown suspects burglarized a vehicle in the 900 block of East Woodbury Road Between 6:40 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. A window was shattered and a black messenger bag, brown Louis Vuitton wallets, cash and personal documents were stolen. |
