The incident occurred around 4:08 p.m. January 10 at the intersection of Figueroa Drive and Lincoln Avenue. A deputy patrolling in a vehicle was flagged down by a woman who was apparently the victim of a stabbing. An unknown male then approached the deputy and a shooting occurred, according to Deputy Arteaga of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. It is unclear to Arteaga why use of force was necessary against the man. The woman was taken to a trauma center, according to Dispatch Supervisor of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, Arteaga told SGV CityWatch. The woman’s condition was not readily available at the time of the story was posted. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau is continuing to investigate the shooting death, which occurred around 1 p.m., in the 2400 block of Canyada Avenue. Deputies responding to a gunfire call found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso near Canyada Avenue and Figueroa Drive. The victim was reportedly driving when an unknown suspect fired upon him, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The victim, only described as a 45-year-old Black man, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, deputies said. The suspect fired multiple rounds in the 2000 block of Canyada Avenue and reportedly drove away.
Deputies focused on a house where the suspect was thought to be. With the help of the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau, the home was cleared. No suspect was found. The shooting occurred on West Figueroa Drive near North Canyada Avenue just after 1 p.m. February 16, according to the Los Angeles county fire department. The sheriffs department has yet to publicly provide a suspect description, if one exists. A press release issued by the sheriffs department stated the incident occurred at 2 p.m. However, Los Angeles County Firefighters responded at 1:05 p.m. and a social media post from Altadena deputies warning of a road closure on Figueroa was posted at 1:32 p.m. Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor ALTADENA - A woman died in a rollover crash that injured as many as five others October 15. The collision occurred at East Woodbury Road near Fiske Avenue just before Noon. A black Ford Escape and a silver Honda Odyssey collided. The Escape overturned, while the Odyssey sustained major front end damage, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. Firefighters arrived on scene and found the woman trapped inside one of the vehicles. The woman died at the scene, according to Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Five other people received minor injuries: two children under 3 in one vehicle were taken to an area trauma center. In the second vehicle, a woman and child were hospitalized while two other children older than 3 ended up without being transported, Rangel said. The circumstances surrounding the collision have yet to be publicly shared by the California Highway Patrol, which is investigating the crash. The woman was discovered near a dirt road leading to a water tank in Las Flores Canyon. There were no signs of foul play. The Altadena Mountain Rescue Team was called to locate the tent around 8:52 p.m. Friday, July 19, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The cause of death is not yet known. It is unclear if the woman was transient. An 18-year-old Black man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. A Black juvenile was also hospitalized after being wounded in the lower extremities, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The suspect, only described as a Hispanic man, opened fire on the two victims from inside a vehicle in the 2100 block of Santa Anita Avenue June 10 around 4:39 p.m. A vehicle description is unknown.

The driver crashed into a wall at Holliston Avenue and Mendocino Street Saturday, October 13. CHP officers were notified of the crash at 9:47 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. Upon the arrival of CHP officers, the male driver was extricated and taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital where he died, the CHP said. The driver has a not been identified yet. The case has yet to be assigned to an investigator, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. It is unclear if the driver suffered a medical emergency which led to the crash, or if drugs, alcohol or distracted driving are factors. |
