One patient was taken to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance, but it is unclear if the civilian or officer was injured, according to Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The collision occurred at 1:32 p.m. at 4th Street and San Gabriel Avenue, Sims said. An Azusa Police supervisor was unavailable for comment. Early reports indicated the Azusa Police officer was injured and hospitalized. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A man in his 30s is recovering from non-life-threatening wounds after being found shot November 6, Azusa Police said. The victim was found suffering from a single gunshot wound on the sidewalk in the area of Cerritos Avenue and Foothill Bouelvard, according to Lt. Robert Chivas of the Azusa Police Department. The shooting was reported at 10:19 p.m. in the 600 block of East Foothill Boulevard.

Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A man armed with a .357 magnum handgun was taken into custody at a Shell gas station November 6 after kidnapping another man, police said.
Andrew Edwards, 28, was taken into custody without incident as he left the gas station, 106 S. Azusa Ave. around 4:22 p.m. A loaded handgun was found near him as he was taken into custody, according to Sgt. Tommy Avila of the Azusa Police Department. Edwards is accused of kidnapping another man. Edwards allegedly forced him to drive to the Azusa Intermodal Transit Center, 801 N. Azusa Ave. “Fearing the suspect was going to shoot and kill him, the victim complied with the suspect’s demands,” Avila said in a written statement. As the victim drove north on Azusa Avenue, the suspect fled the victim’s vehicle and ran into the Shell station, Avila said. Edwards was booked on suspicion of felony armed kidnapping and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. No one was injured during the incident. |
