The shooting was reported around 8:19 p.m. on Pasadena Avenue north of Eleventh Street. Officers responded to the location and found four shell casings, according to Jennifer Wu, emergency services coordinator with the Azusa Police Department. It is unclear if investigators have a motive or even a suspect, or vehicle description. The man who was shot, and at least one suspect, began arguing outside of a liquor store in the area of Arrow Highway and Lark Ellen Avenue. Police were called around 9:50 p.m. The shooting may have occurred near Woodcroft Street and South Lark Ellen Avenue, according to Jennifer Wu, public information officer for the Azusa Police Department. After being shot, the man wound up near his residence inside Los Angeles County Sheriff’s jurisdiction, Wu told SGV CityWatch. Detectives are still attempting to get details on anything related to the gunman. Andrew Hidalgo was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. He died from multiple gunshot wounds. His death is listed as a homicide. Hidalgo was allegedly spray painting graffiti in an Azusa neighborhood Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Hidalgo was found by Azusa Police officers in the 200 block of South Noble Place, June 2 around 3:23 p.m. He was transported to a hospital and died the next day, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Investigators later identified two suspects in the shooting and both are now in custody. Their names have not been publicly released. Transient Gerardo Vega, 50, suffered from head trauma, a stab wound of the neck and gunshot wound of the abdomen, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Vega’s death was ruled a homicide. A passerby en route to work discovered Vega down and un responsive at the Azusa Rockery, 1350 Mountain View Cir., around 7:43 a.m. June 3. It is not publicly clear if Sheriff’s Homicide investigators identified a suspect. Azusa Rockery is a half-acre geology interpretive park nestled in an area north of an industrial complex and is adjacent to the San Gabriel River Bike Path. Police and firefighters responded around 3:23 p.m. to the 200 block of Noble Place June 2 after residents in the area reported gunfire, according to Lt. Nick Covarrubias of the Azusa Police Department. Covarrubias did not know the victim’s condition as of Thursday night. A supervisor with the Azusa Police Department could not be reached Friday morning. No suspect or vehicle description was available as the investigations continues. Daniel Rosas-Lucero, 37, died from a gunshot wound to the head in the 700 block of North Soldano Avenue, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Officers responded to the neighborhood just before 6 p.m. Wednesday to a call of shots fired and found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Jennifer Wu, community service officer with the Azusa Police Department. Few other details are available regarding what potentially led up to the shooting, as detectives continue to work the case, Wu told SGV CityWatch. One reader on the SGV CityWatch Facebook page noted his wife and other attendees of a coffee shop meeting at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and Soldano Avenue reported someone running into the coffee shop. Gunfire was soon heard and patrons were rushed to nearby St. Francis of Rome Church. The shooting occurred along the 210 freeway on ramp from northbound Azusa Avenue to the east 210 freeway May 30. The California Highway Patrol was called by the victim who escaped after being shot. CHP officers were dispatched around 11:35 p.m., according to the CHP. “The victim was approached by two Hispanic adults wearing face masks and a verbal confrontation ensued. The confrontation escalated and one of the two Hispanic male adults wearing the face masks produced a handgun and fired several rounds at the victim,” according to the California Highway Patrol in a written statement. Police were dispatched to East Fifth Street and North Rockvale Avenue May 7. Police did not have a suspect description and there was no evidence found that someone was shot, according to Sgt. Steven Sears of the Azusa Police Department. The shooting was reported at 7:02 p.m. It occurred out in the street near a 7-Eleven, 705 E. Fifth Street. Sears could only say several rounds were fired. No suspects or victims were found at the time. It is not immediately clear if the investigation turned up anyone as of yet. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor AZUSA - A man and woman out walking early Sunday morning were confronted by a suspect who shot and wounded the pair, according to the Azusa Police Department.
Officers were called to a reported shooting in the 300 block of East Second Street at 3:30 a.m. May 1. A 29-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were found wounded, according to Sergeant Brandon Bailey of the Azusa Police Department. The conditions of the man and woman were not immediately known. The man and woman were apparently walking home from another location when they were confronted by the suspect. “They were walking home from another location and happened to come across the suspect and some type of incident occurs,” Bailey told SGV CityWatch. It is unclear if the man and woman were specifically targeted by the suspect. It is also unclear what was possibly said between the suspect and the man and woman that led to gunfire. Bailey did not know if the shooting was gang-related. The best description available for the suspect pegs him as a male Hispanic adult standing 5 feet 8 inches tall.
