The crash occurred around 3:02 a.m. at Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue October 15. The driver of a black Dodge Charger allegedly ran a red light and struck a Honda Civic at high speed, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Buildings at the southwest corner of Colorado Boulevard and Wilson Avenue were damaged by flying debris. The Charger struck a wood pole as it came to rest on the west side of Wilson Avenue, Pasadena Police said. The driver of the Charger, a 26-year-old Pasadena woman, is believed to have been driving under the influence, Pasadena Police said. The driver of the Charger and the 43-year-old Pasadena woman driving the Civic received moderate injuries and are listed in stable condition. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor PASADENA - Several lanes of the westbound and eastbound 210 freeway at Madre Street remain closed after a crash damaged equipment on the Gold Line right of way.
The crash occurred in westbound lanes of the 210 at Madre Street just after 7 a.m. October 13. The big rig landed one the Gold Line tracks after possibly swerving across multiple lanes of the freeway and smashed through the divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Sig Alert affects the HOV, No. 1 and 2 westbound lanes until Noon, according to Officer Peter Nicholson of the California Highway Patrol Traffic management Center. The semi somehow veered from the slow lane and through the divider, the CHP reported. The big rig driver was able to walk away from the rig, which eventually ignited, the CHP said. The driver’s injuries are unclear. There are no Gold Line trains running between the Allen Station and Sierra Madre Villa Station. Bus bridges are moving Gold Line passengers between the mention stations, according to Los Angeles Metro officials. Miguel Castaneda, 23, was arrested October 2. Valentina Rosales, 23, was arrested the following day. The two have since been charged in the fatal stabbing of Demetrio Tapia II in a Pasadena Rose Bowl parking lot, the Pasadena Police Department said. Castaneda was charged with one count of murder. Bail is set at more than $2 million. Rosales was charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact. Her bail has been set at more than $1 million. Rosales and Tapia feuded over social media days prior to the stabbing and both agreed to meet in a Rose Bowl lot to settle their fight, according to the Pasadena Police Department. A physical altercation occurred in Parking Lot K where Tapia was stabbed to death, Pasadena Police said. Castaneda and Rosales are scheduled to appear in Pasadena Superior Court Friday, October 5. The suspect entered the Macy’s and approached the jewelry department, 401 S. Lake Ave., just after 7 p.m. The suspect acted as if he was about to make some purchases. As the items were being scanned, the suspect pulled out a silver handgun, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The suspect demanded the items be placed in a black bag. The employee complied out of fear and the suspect fled the store. The estimated loss is $6,000. It is unknown if the suspect had any accomplices or fled in a vehicle. The suspect is a Black man, possibly in his 20s, is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 155 pounds, has black hair in a bun and wore a white and pink striped shirt and red bandana on his head. Anthony Joseph Miller, 51, faces five counts of forcible rape, two counts each of forcible oral copulation, sodomy by use of force and dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and one count each of sexual battery by restraint and false imprisonment by violence, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Miller pleaded not guilty October 1 and is scheduled for another appearance in Pasadena Superior Court October 24. The sex assaults began in 2011 with one woman allegedly being assaulted by Miller. Four more women were allegedly assaulted in August and September 2018, prosecutors said. The assaults reportedly occurred in Pasadena, according to the Pasadena Police Department. Miller was taken into custody September 27 with the help of the U.S. Marshals Southwest Pacific Region Fugitive Unit. Miller is being held in lieu of $10 million bail. Authorities and medics were called to section K of the Rose Bowl parking lot just before 10 p.m. October 1. The victim and suspect began fighting with each other, according to Pasadena Police in a written statement. A motive for the fight was unclear. The victim died at the scene.
