The bulk of the fire was burning between the 210 and 710 freeways. The point of origin may have been inside a transient camp located between the mentioned freeways, according to Pasadena Fire Department radio traffic. Lane closures remain in effect. The westbound 210 freeway to the southbound 710 freeway, walnut on ramp and Fair Oaks on ramp to the westbound 210 remains closed, as well as the northbound 710 on ramp from California, according to officer Elizabeth Kravig of the California Highway Patrol. The fire was reported around 4:45 p.m. Firefighters have requested the California Highway Patrol transition lanes from the westbound 210 freeway to the southbound 710 freeway. The Walnut Street on ramp to the westbound 210 freeway will also be closed, both for one hour. The crash occurred in westbound lanes of the 210 at Madre Street just after 7 a.m. October 13. The big rig landed one the Gold Line tracks after possibly swerving across multiple lanes of the freeway and smashed through the divider, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Sig Alert affects the HOV, No. 1 and 2 westbound lanes until Noon, according to Officer Peter Nicholson of the California Highway Patrol Traffic management Center. The semi somehow veered from the slow lane and through the divider, the CHP reported. The big rig driver was able to walk away from the rig, which eventually ignited, the CHP said. The driver’s injuries are unclear. There are no Gold Line trains running between the Allen Station and Sierra Madre Villa Station. Bus bridges are moving Gold Line passengers between the mention stations, according to Los Angeles Metro officials. Kristoffer Caldwell, 38, from Pasadena, pleaded not guilty to one count of arson of an inhabited structure, according to Greg Risling of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Caldwell was taken into custody August 2 after witnesses saw him return to the fire, 30 W. Mountain Street. Caldwell apparently returned subsequent to the firefight and was detained by a fire investigator until police could take him into custody, according to Lt. Mark Goodman of the Pasadena Police Department. The fire gutted a 130-year-old, two-story Victorian home around 10:17 p.m. August 2. Firefighters arrived at 10:17 p.m. Caldwell is being held in lieu of $310,000 bail in the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. Caldwell is scheduled to appear in the Pasadena Superior Courthouse August 29 for a preliminary hearing. A dump truck driver stopped and attempted to extinguish the fire, the CHP said. The fire’s size is not known. The 20-foot by 50-foot vegetation fire was reported around 9:25 p.m. at 360 N. Arroyo Blvd. There were no activities underway at the time the fire broke out, according to Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department. Several Pasadena Fire engines remained on scene after flames were extinguished to ensure no flareup occurred. The cause is under investigation. A total of 43 firefighters, six engines, three trucks, two rescue ambulances, an arson investigator, two battalion chiefs and one deputy chief responded to the scene. The fire was knocked down in 42 minutes, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. Caldwell is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail, according to Los Angeles County booking records. The fire burned inside the home at 30 W. Mountain St. around 10:30 p.m. Firefighters on scene requested a second-alarm response, which added additional firefighters. A total of 55 personnel fought flames and kept damage from spreading to additional homes, according to Pasadena Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Frieders. Flames were first seen coming from the second story of the vacant home, Frieders said. The fire was declared knocked down around 11 p.m. The home was previously damaged one year ago. The Apartment fire was reported on the second story of a complex in the 20 block of West Montana around 3:36 p.m. July 24. Firefighters were able to save a dog after two guinea pigs and a bird were killed, according to the Pasadena Fire Department. A cause of the fire is either not known or was not disclosed. |
