COVINA - A suspect DUI driver is in custody, accused of striking and injuring a pedestrian Wednesday night.
The collision occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 600 block of South Citrus Avenue. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment and the victim’s condition is not known at this time, according to Lt. Trevor Gaumer of the Covina Police Department.
The victim, a 70-year-old woman, is still alive, Gaumer said.
The driver was found and detained a few hundred yards from the scene of the crash.
It is unclear what direction of travel the woman and driver were going at the time of the crash, which occurred at the three-way intersection at Citrus Avenue and Shoppers Lane, Gaumer said.
Southbound Citrus Avenue from Rowland Street is still closed to traffic.
