The California Highway Patrol cleared the westbound 210 freeway west of Allen Avenue about 20 minute ago after being called to assist with closing the No. 4 and 5 lanes, according to Officer Stephen Brandt of the CHP Traffic Management Center. The Sig Alert was issued around Noon, Brandt said. It is unclear if the search is still underway, but the chase may have stemmed from a burglary in Arcadia. No further information is available. Three men approached the victim at 2nd Avenue and La Sierra Drive around 8:55 p.m. The victim was struck an undisclosed amount of times. The suspects threatened to shoot the victim if he did not relinquish the cash, according to an Arcadia Police crime broadcast. One suspect is a Hispanic man in his 20s in dark clothing, dark baseball hat and dark jeans. The second and third suspects are also Hispanic men in their 20s. They also wore dark clothing. The suspects fled north on 2nd Avenue and east on Duarte Road in a possible dark-colored Toyota Corolla Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor ARCADIA - Firefighters knocked down a brush fire inside Peck Road Park Wednesday night.
The Fire’s size is unknown, but engines from Arcadia are being assisted by Monrovia firefighters and the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Firefighters were dispatched to Peck Road Park, 5401 Peck Rd., at 8:44 p.m. Firefighters declared knockdown at 9:20 p.m. The fire’s cause is under investigation. The search began shortly after 3:15 p.m. Police responded after a neighbor reported a suspicious vehicle in the 2200 block of Highland Oaks Drive, according to Lt. Tom Cullen of the Arcadia Police Department. Cullen was unsure if the suspects made it into a residence, but the four suspects fled, forcing officers to set up a perimeter search. Officers have secured the suspect vehicle. The perimeter search is fairly localized within a small area around the affected Highland Oaks neighborhood, Cullen said. The suspects were initially described as Black men, some or all were dressed in red and black clothing, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. The shooting occurred in the area of Sunset Boulevard and Okoboji Drive. Sunset Boulevard is closed to all traffic for the next several hours, Arcadia Police said in a written statement. Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau are en route to handle the investigation. Police were called to the living quarters area of the Race Track, 285 Huntington Dr., around 9 p.m. to a medical call, according to Lt. Roy Nakamura of the Arcadia Police Department. “It looks like it’s accidental, more of a medical problem than anything else. Definitely no signs of foul play,” Nakamura said. A caller reported to Arcadia Police that the man was unconscious and not breathing. He also suffered from a laceration to the body, according to Arcadia Police radio traffic. It is not clear if the laceration is related to the man’s death. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner has been notified and will be en route to investigate the cause of death. |
