The collision was reported around 3:45 p.m. A Sig Alert was originally issued for 45 minutes for the No. 1 and 2 lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol, and was cancelled about one hour later. The number of injuries was unknown, according to Officer Elizabeth Kravig of the CHP and Dispatch Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. At least one injured person was found laying in traffic lanes. No one with major injuries was transported, Peters said. One vehicle overturned in the crash and possibly came rest in eastbound lanes, according to the CHP. A blue Toyota Tundra and Ford F150 both suffered severe damage to their axles and require a tow truck. At least one person was injured in the crash, which was reported just after 2 p.m. December 29 in the No. 3 and 4 lanes. The Citrus Avenue on ramp to the west 210 freeway is also closed, the CHP said. One of the semi truck drivers was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition, according to the CHP Traffic Management Center. Possibly as many as five other vehicles are involved in the crash. The CHP is requesting to have the semi trucks hauled away. One of the semi trucks was hauling at least 40,000 to 50,000 pounds of products. The collision occurred just before 11 a.m. on North San Gabriel Avenue at West 4th Street. The white sedan was pushed up on the southwest sidewalk, coming within mere feet of hitting a restaurant. Firefighters were dispatched at 11:01 a.m. They arrived 11 minutes later and reported one occupant with a head injury, according to a representative with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. All other injuries involved in the collision were considered minor, according to Azusa Police Sergeant Seth Chapman. The struggle and officer-involved shooting occurred at Irwindale Avenue and McKinley Avenue around 12:40 a.m. December 21. Officers were searching for a burglary suspect in the 1500 block of McKinley Avenue when they encountered an armed man, according to Lt. Robert Landeros of the Azusa Police Department. The suspect armed himself with a handgun. The officers began struggling with him to get the gun away, Azusa Police said. At least one officer fired upon the suspect as he fled, but is unclear if he was hit. Officers are concentrating their search in an area near Motor Avenue and Paramount Street, according to Paul Arrasmith, who works in the area. Police vehicles, fire trucks and a SWAT truck are at the scene. Employees and trucks nearby the search are being prevented from entering their buildings. A large warehouse about two blocks north of the scene reported an unknown subject was trying to buzz someone through the front door intercom around 11:30 p.m. — about an hour before the shooting. No employees were inside the building at the time. An alert was received about the mysterious person. Irwindale, Glendora, Covina and Baldwin Park Police Officers are assisting with traffic control. The crash occurred around 9:50 a.m. on Arrow Highway just east of Citrus Avenue. The driver who struck and killed the pedestrian remained at the scene, according to Sgt. Seth Chapman of the Azusa Police Department. Police are still at the scene and have traffic blocked off for likely the next few hours, Chapman said. It is unclear if alcohol, drugs, or distracted driving was a factor. |
