SAN DIMAS - As many as five people were detained Monday night after a pursuit led by the CHP and Azusa Police ended with a crash.
The suspects were tied to a shooting that occurred in Azusa. The suspects in a white sedan refused to yield for Azusa officers and a chase wound its way through Azusa and Glendora via surface streets and the 210 freeway. The pursuit entered Baldwin Park and Irwindale from the 605 freeway where the suspects used surface streets before going back to Azusa. The driver used eastbound Arrow Highway to escape into San Dimas where the driver crashed into another car. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - An unknown suspect fired several rounds from a handgun into the ground just outside rooms near Motel 6 Saturday morning, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said.
The shooting took place south of the Motel 6, 502 W. Arrow Hwy., around 6:37 a.m. April 18. Video surveillance showed the suspect as he opened fire, according to Lt. Mark Skaggs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. “Deputies did find three expended 9mm shell casings on the south side of the motel. A male Hispanic in all dark clothing with a hooded sweatshirt covering his head was walking along in front of the rooms and shot into the ground,” Skaggs told SGV CityWatch. No one was injured. The gunman continued walking west after firing his gun. He remains at-large. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - An unknown suspect likely fired a gun from a vehicle, causing external damage to a home early Monday. The shooting took place in the 300 block of West Calora Street around 3 a.m. October 7. No one was hit by the multiple rounds of gunfire, according to Lt. Elisabeth Sachs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. A suspect has yet to be identified. Deputies do not believe at this time that the shooting was gang related, Sachs said. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - No injuries were reported and no structures were hit after gunfire rang out in a San Dimas neighborhood Sunday night. The shooting was reported in the area of North Eucla Avenue and West Third Street just After 9 p.m. April 14. A caller reported hearing the gunfire, but deputies searched and found no suspects or victims, according to Sgt. Michael McGrattan of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station.
Deputies did recover evidence of a shooting, McGrattan said. Anyone who may have witnessed the shooting, or who may have information on a suspect or surveillance footage is urged to contact the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station at 909-450-2700. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - Deputies are looking to identify and locate two people after a resident claimed one of them pointed a semi-automatic handgun at him during an argument in the resident’s driveway February 28. The resident apparently opened fire at the suspects as they sat in their grey Nissan Maxima in the 800 block of Northcape Avenue just after 11 p.m. The suspects fled in the Maxima after the gunfire erupted, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. A search yielded the abandoned Maxima near San Dimas Avenue and Puddingstone Drive. The suspects reportedly fled westbound on foot, deputies said.
One suspect is a Hispanic man between 20 to 30 years old. He stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and wore a grey hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect is a female Hispanic between 25 to 35 years old, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 125, has brownish red shoulder-length hair. She also wore a grey hooded sweatshirt. Firefighters were dispatched to South Acacia Street south of Bonita Avenue at 6:20 p.m. One victim was transported to a trauma center, the second victim was declared dead at the scene, according to Dispatch Supervisor Bernard Peters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Deputies believe the shooting may have stemmed from an incident at a nearby restaurant, according Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station radio Traffic. The victim transported received multiple gunshot wounds, according to firefighter radio traffic. The scene is eerily quiet where the shooting happened at an apartment complex along pitch-black Acacia Street. A large group of deputies were talking at-length with an irate man as he stood behind a black security fence at the complex. Patrons of nearby Chapparal Lanes are either unaware or unfazed by the shooting. It is unclear if a suspect has been apprehended. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A man was fired at several times, but escaped injury in a shooting Tuesday night, a Sheriff’s lieutenant said.
The shooting occurred in the east alley in the 300 block of West 1st Street around 6:48 p.m. December 18. The man was taking out trash when two men pulled up to him in a car, said. Lt. Mark Skaggs of the San Dimas Sheriff’s Station. “Two male Hispanics approached him in a car and asked ‘where are you from,’” Skaggs said. “He said he wasn’t from anywhere and they pulled out a gun and shot at him.” One of the suspects fired at many as three rounds at the man, completely missing him. The suspects fled in their dark-colored sedan, possibly a 2011 to 2014 Toyota Corolla, east through the alley towards Cateract Avenue, Skaggs said. Deputies responded to the area. A bullet hole was discovered in a garage door, Skaggs said. Both suspects appeared to be about 25 years old and wore dark clothing. One of the wore a Dodgers hat. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor SAN DIMAS - A 9-millimeter gun was found inside the car of a suspect accused of opening fire on a driver during a road rage incident.
The suspect, 34-year-old Scott Rohner of West Covina, was found and arrested outside a business in the 600 block of West Arrow Highway at 1 p.m. September 28--two days after the confrontation at Lone Hill and Cienega avenues, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. Rohner allegedly became enraged after the other motorist entered the road in front of him around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. Words were exchanged and Rohner brandished the handgun and opened fire. The bullet missed the victim and their car, San Dimas deputies said. “An off duty Deputy Sheriff spotted the suspect vehicle in front of a business in the 600 block of West Arrow Highway in San Dimas. Responding on-duty deputies were able to take the man into custody without incident,” San Dimas deputies said. The 9-millimeter handgun was found resting in the driver’s door pocket. Three loaded magazines were also found near the handgun, including one with a 30-round capacity, deputies said. Rohner was booked on suspicion of being a convicted felon possessing a loaded firearm, carrying a loaded firearm concealed in a vehicle and possession of a loaded unregistered firearm. He is being held in L.A. County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bail. The shooting took place on westbound Cienega Avenue at Lone Hill Avenue just after 4 p.m. September 26. Both drivers were westbound on Cienega at Lone Hill when the road rage occurred, according to Lt. Mark Skaggs of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s San Dimas Station. The suspect fired one round in a northwest direction at the other driver. The shot missed the driver and vehicle, Skaggs said. The fired round was not located. The victim remained at the scene and provided a statement to deputies. The suspect fled westbound in a black Civic, Skaggs said. |
