The rider parked his motorcycle in a garage and fled into a home in the area of Cloverly Avenue and Wedgewood Street around 10:30 p.m. The CHP and El Monte Police have a perimeter setup with a K9 en route, according to CHP radio traffic. The rider was initially wanted for possible DUI driving. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor TEMPLE CITY - Deputies believe a family was the victim of a prank call after a man stated he shot his wife and tied up another person Saturday night. Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call from a man stating he shot his wife and had another person tied up in the 5900 block of Sultana Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. Deputies, assisted by a helicopter, secured the home and ordered everyone out, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies finished detaining everyone inside the home and secured the residence by 8:50 p.m.

The suspect has been inside the In-N-Out, 10601 Lower Azusa Rd., since before 3 a.m. Deputies responding to a burglary alarm call found the man inside and he refused commands to exit, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Nearby structures have been evacuated and a crisis negotiation team is on scene. The resident called 9-1-1 after the men fled around 8:30 p.m. in the 6000 block of Kauffman Avenue. The suspects fled in an unknown direction, according to Sgt. Klinski of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Klinksi did not know how the suspects entered. In a Sheriff’s crime broadcast, the suspects were described as Black men, all 5 feet 9 inches tall, between 140 pounds to 200 pounds. All three wore black clothing and covered their faces with black ski masks. One man was armed with a golf club. Deputies have narrowed their search down to the area of Golden West Avenue and Agnes Avenue between Woodruff Avenue and Garibaldi Avenue, according to Sgt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. A concerned resident alerted deputies to a burglary in progress in the 6000 block of Rowland Avenue around 5 p.m. One of the aspects fled towards Golden West through residential yards, Long said. It is unknown if the suspect is armed. The checkpoint, scheduled at an undisclosed location, will end Saturday at 2 a.m. Deputies will search for signs of alcohol or drug impairment, while checking motorists for proper licensing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “Studies of California drivers have shown that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes had one or more drugs in their systems. A study of active drivers showed more tested positive for drugs that may impair driving (14 percent) than did for alcohol (7.3 percent),” the Sheriff’s Temple Station said. “Of the drugs, marijuana was most prevalent, at 7.4 percent, slightly more than alcohol.” Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor TEMPLE CITY - Deputies are investigating four men who burglarized a home Saturday afternoon.
The burglary occurred in the 10600 block of Hallwood Drive around 2:10 p.m. The men fled without taking any property, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. The four suspects, described to deputies as 20-year-old Black men, fled in an older-model silver sedan northbound on Pal Mal Avenue. No weapons were seen during the burglary. The suspect was discovered inside the victim’s white Chevy van on Rosemead Boulevard near Broadway Avenue some time after 9 p.m. July 13. The victim ordered the suspect to stop and chased the suspect away from the vehicle. A foot pursuit began south on Rosemead Boulevard, said Sgt. James Long of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. “The suspect turned, pulled a firearm and told him to stop chasing him,” Long said. The victim stopped chasing the suspect who fled out of sight. The suspect is a white man with brown hair, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, between 30 and 35 years old. He wore blue jeans,a blue Dodgers hat and a blue shirt with the “LA” logo, Long said. Written by AARON CASTREJON | Citywatch Editor TEMPLE CITY - A suspect shot by a business owner is stable after an armed confrontation during a burglary Monday morning.
The confrontation occurred inside an auto shop in the 4700 block of Miller Drive around 3:49 a.m. The business owner was confronted by one suspect armed with a crowbar and opened fire, according to Lt. Tom McNeil of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Temple Station. Deputies arrived and arrested a getaway driver. A third suspect was found in the area of the shooting and also arrested, McNeil said. No one else was injured during the burglary. |
