Eder Simiano, a 33-year-old Upland transient, was found after countless hours of surveillance was conducted and a number of search warrants were served on the Upland transient. Detectives seized a number of weapons, a cache of ammunition and a machete, according to Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. The incident unfolded at a business in the 4900 block of Fourth Street in mid-April. Simiano was arrested May 16, according to Los Angeles County booking records.

Nearly 38,000 Los Angeles County residents are infected with COVID-19 and more than 1,800 have died as of May 17, county health officials said. Persons age 65 and older remain the most vulnerable to the illness. People in Los Angeles County are still required to maintain a six-foot distance from each other and to wear a clean cloth covering over the mouth and nose. Specific high-risk businesses should remain closed. Public and private gatherings of any number of people outside a household are prohibited, county health officials said.
