Officers were called to Adelante Street and Irwindale Road just after 9 p.m. A crew worked to unplug a clogged drain that prevented the water from escaping, according to Sgt. Diego Cornejo of the Irwindale Police Department. It was roughly an hour until the clog was cleared and the streets were opened again, Cornejo told SGV CityWatch. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch IRWINDALE - Two armed teens, with the help of a woman, robbed a victim of a Rolex watch during an OfferUp transaction in Irwindale New Year’s Eve.
The robbery occurred in the 15800 block of Arrow Highway around 1:57 p.m. December 31. The victim met with the woman, identified as Anabella Scott, 18. During the transaction, Scott allegedly motioned to two males in masks who approached with handguns, according to the Irwindale Police Department. “Both suspects pointed a handgun and demanded the Rolex. The victim surrendered the Rolex,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. The trio fled in a black Kia sedan. Irwindale detectives were able to identify Scott as a suspect and located her residence in Desert Hot Springs. With the assistance of Desert Hot Springs police detectives, a search warrant was served at the home where the stolen Rolex watch and two handguns were recovered. Scott and two teens at the home were arrested. Scott and the teens were booked on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The teens were issued a citation and released to their parents with a court date pending. Scott is being held in the West Covina jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in the West Covina courthouse Wednesday January 4. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - A robbery suspect who led authorities on a wild chase through Irwindale and multiple other cities December 22 was arrested in Baldwin Park.
The pursuit was televised and showed the suspect fleeing as fast as 95 miles per hour, refusing to stop for stop signs, red lights and traveling on the wrong side of the road as he evaded Irwindale officers who attempted to stop him for allegedly trying to rob at least seven different victims, including children, according to the Irwindale Police Department. One of the armed robberies was reported around 4:37 p.m. in the 6600 block of Irwindale Avenue Thursday. The suspect, Hector Damian Silvaruiz, was located in a black Honda Accord on Gladstone Street and Dugan Avenue in Azusa. At least two of the seven victims were children, as young as 7 and 8 years old. A hammer was used during the attempted robberies. No one was injured, but a number of vehicles were vandalized. A hammer was recovered by officers, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Silvaruiz led officers on a 40-minute, 28-mile pursuit through multiple cities: Irwindale, Azusa, Duarte, Bradbury, Monrovia, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, Pasadena and Altadena using the 210 freeway and surface streets, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The pursuit was canceled due to the dangerous driving of Silvaruiz, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Officers locate Silvaruiz in Baldwin Park. He was placed into custody at 1:17 a.m. Friday. The Glendora man was booked on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest, vandalism, and a number of vehicle code violations. He is being held at the West Covina City Jail in lieu $75,000.00 bail, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Silvaruiz is scheduled to appear in the West Covina courthouse Wednesday, December 28.

IRWINDALE – Two men in a stolen vehicle were caught after trying, but failing, to escape police December 6.
Officers attempted to detain both suspects after it was discovered the men were cruising in a stolen vehicle in the 4800 block of Sabre Lane, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Both suspects ran during the traffic stop. One of the suspects made an abysmal attempt at scaling a wall, but when he realized he had no spider powers, he surrendered.
“During their investigation, officers also found the suspects were in possession of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement.
The vehicle was returned to the owner. The driver, 23-year-old Hector Manuel Cesena of El Monte, and La Puente man Enso Manuel Naranjo, 40, were both booked on a combination of grand theft auto and drug-related charges. Both men are being held without bail due to Post Release Community Supervision violation holds, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Both men are scheduled to appear in the West Covina courthouse Thursday, December 8. Officers attempted to stop the 17-year-old biker on an unregistered mini bike through the city. The teen, who is unnamed because of his age, fled into the riverbed at Live Oak Avenue and abandoned his baby ride, according to Irwindale Police Department. “The police helicopter located the suspect hiding in some brush in the riverbed and directed ground officers to the hiding spot. The suspect was taken into custody without incident,’ according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. The teen was booked and eventually released to a parent pending a future court date, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The driver fled a collision with another vehicle at Irwindale Avenue and Arrow Highway November 11. The Driver of the vehicle that was struck followed the big rig into Azusa where the suspect escaped on foot, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The big rig was reported stolen to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The trailer, packed with electronics, was freshly stolen from an Irwindale Business. “Both vehicles were recovered to be released to their owners,” according to the Irwindale Police Department in a written statement. No one was injured in the hit and run. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect is urged to call the Irwindale Police Department Detective Bureau at 626-430-2245. Miguel Beltran Aranda, 30, was stopped in the 5200 block of Vincent Avenue October 22. In addition to the cocaine and loaded 9mm handgun, officers discovered Aranda’s license was expired, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Aranda was booked on suspicion of drug-related offenses and for carrying a loaded handgun in the vehicle. He later posted $35,000 bond and was released, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor IRWINDALE - A LoJack signal helped officers locate a stolen black 1994 Ford Mustang, which was tracked from Irwindale to unincorporated Covina October 4. El Monte man Enrique Leon, 43, was found behind the wheel of the stolen Ford Mustang in the 16300 block of Bellbrook Street. Officers originally were alerted to the LoJack signal in the area of Arrow Highway and Morada Street, in Irwindale, according to the Irwindale Police Department. The 1994 Ford Mustang was reported stolen out of the Los Angeles county Sheriff’s Department Temple Station area. “Further inspection revealed the ignition switch on the Mustang had been "punched" and there were no keys to the vehicle. Mr. Leon was also found to be in possession of suspected narcotics paraphernalia as well,” according to the Irwindale Police Department. The Ford Mustang was recovered at the scene to be released to the rightful owner, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Leon was released on a citation and had a scheduled appearance at the West Covina Courthouse October 6. Briana Quenga, a 53-year-old Garden Grove resident, was discovered to have a number of outstanding no-bail federal warrants for felony fraud from the FBI’s Fresno Office, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Quenga was found by Irwindale officers during an investigation in the 12700 block of Schabarum Avenue. The warrants were under an alias of hers: Briana Ballard Call, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Quenga was booked in the West Covina Police Jail and was transported by Irwindale detectives to Lebec in Kern County where she was transferred to FBI agents. The owner of All California Auto Wrecking, 867 Alpha St., was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of auto theft charges. The seven stolen vehicles being dismantled were towed from the business, according to the Irwindale Police Department. Arrested was Maria Sanchez Diaz, 54, of Monrovia. She was booked on suspicion of operating a chop shop. She posted $50,000 bail, according to Sgt. Rudy Gatto of the Irwindale Police Department. The owner also faces potential business license and code enforcement violations after an inspection by City of Irwindale code enforcement staff. The investigation was jointly conducted by Irwindale Police detectives, patrol officers and investigators from the Los Angeles County Taskforce for Regional Auto-Theft Prevention. |
