The 400 pounds of high-grade marijuana extract, complex THC extraction equipment and some hazardous materials were found after a multi-location search warrant was written to investigate the operation, according to the Pomona Police Department. The marijuana grow and honey oil lab were discovered at 3227 Producer Wy. Just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Los Angeles County Fire Department Hazmat Team assisted the Pomona Police Special Investigations Unit with the scene. With resources from Los Angeles County and the state, the scene was processed before the operation was dismantled and the site rendered safe, Pomona Police said. A suspect was likely identified, but has not been publicly named. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - A loaded firearm was recovered and two people were jailed Friday after the driver fled a traffic stop early Friday. Valarie Sauers, 30, and Sonya Sifuentes, 35, were taken into custody by Pomona Police officers and California Highway Patrol officers working a gang suppression operation with the Pomona Police Major Crimes Task Force. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the driver, Sauers, in the 1400 block of South Garvey Avenue. Sauers stopped her vehicle at Franklin Avenue and Garvey, but drove away from approaching officers, according to the Pomona Police Department. A slow-speed pursuit ensued to Bolivar Street and Mayfair Avenue where Sifuentes, who was riding shotgun, escaped on foot. Sauers continued to drive from officers, the Pomona Police Department said. Officers ran after Sifuentes and took her into custody.
Sauers drove a short distance before stopping for officers who took her into custody. A vehicle search revealed a loaded handgun, the Pomona Police Department said. Sauers and Sifuentes were both booked on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm and felony evading. The fire sparked in the 1600 block of North Park Avenue just before 1:30 a.m. February 5. The fire burned in a two-story, single-family home. American Red Cross was called to assist the displaced family. Inland Valley Humane Society was called to take the dogs away, Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Martin Rangel told SGV CityWatch.

Officers responding to a gunfire call in the 2000 block of South San Antonio Avenue February 3 found the wounded man. Police and firefighters attempted to save the man, but he died at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. The incident occurred around 8:31 a.m. The victim was only described as a 45-year-old Pomona resident. Police did not reveal if a suspect description exists. A motive is not yet known. Officers found a crashed vehicle around 7 p.m. in the 1300 block of West Second Street. The vehicle, which crashed into a tree, contained the two gunshot victims, according to the Pomona Police Department. One of the victims died a short time after being hospitalized, the Pomona Police Department said. Homicide detectives with the Pomona Police Department are investigating. Second Street is closed between Oak and Buena Vista for the next several hours, the Pomona Police Department said. The male was shot twice while riding a bicycle January 31 in the 900 block of Glen Avenue around 11:12 p.m., according to Sgt. Brad Paulson of the Pomona Police Department. Paulson did not have a suspect or possible vehicle description. He also did not know if the shooting was a gang related. |
