The HOV, No. 1 & 2 lanes have just reopened after being shut down for several hours during the investigation. First responders were called around 6:13 a.m. to two solo collisions. A white vehicle and dark sedan were involved. One of the vehicles blocked the No. 4 lane, while the other blocked the No. 1 & 2 lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol. By 6:36 a.m., the CHP requested all lanes be closed. By 9:02 a.m., the No. 3 & 4 lanes were opened and the coroner arrived on scene. It is not yet publicly clear what caused the fatal crash. POMONA - Possibly as many as 30 to 50 vehicles were disabled after a large pothole developed on the northbound 71 freeway near Holt Avenue Tuesday. A full freeway closure of the 71 at Holt Avenue is in place for an unknown duration. The California Highway Patrol is attempting to get an updated status from Caltrans who has been requested for emergency repair work, but materials needed for the emergency repair work are apparently not available until the day shift crew arrives, according to the California Highway Patrol. A vehicle described as a burgundy Grand Caravan likely struck the pedestrian around 3:33 a.m. The van was stopped in the right shoulder with a shattered front windshield, according to CHP traffic logs. A body covered in a black jacket was seen laying near the center divider. POMONA - All lanes of the east I-10 freeway at Kellogg Drive remain closed after at least one person was killed in a crash early Thursday morning. First responders were dispatched to the crash around 5:15 a.m. January 5. The crash involved a silver sedan that possibly hit the center divider. A semi hauling a trailer was also likely involved, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. The closure is for an unknown duration. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA – Pomona Police and the California Highway Patrol got the drop on a sideshow event that ended with dozens of arrests, vehicle impounds and a driver allegedly ramming a CHP patrol vehicle. The sideshow event took place along Pomona Boulevard and the 71 freeway September 4. The CHP was asked to assist around 11:30 p.m. and as officers arrived, found a chaotic scene. “As CHP officers arrived on scene, they observed a large group of vehicles engaged in a sideshow and a large plume of tire smoke caused by numerous burnouts. The officers moved into position to prevent the vehicles and spectators from leaving. While attempting to flee, one of the participants intentionally rammed a CHP patrol vehicle,” according to the CHP in a written statement. No one was injured in the crash and both vehicles sustained minor damage. Officers made 27 arrests and suspects were booked on a variety of alleged crimes, including exhibition to vandalism. Two felony arrests were made for assault on a peace officer, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs. The majority of the arrests were for spectating and/or participating in an illegal street takeover. Officers impounded 19 vehicles, according to the CHP. The CHP utilizes a Street Racing Task Force to combat such takeover events. The task force is partially funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety. A Sig Alert is affecting the trans road from the south 71 to east 60. The 71 freeway mainline remain open, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported around 5:11 a.m. May 17. The motorcycle may have collided with a sedan. The motorcyclist landed in the No. 2 lane, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. The driver of the dark blue Honda accord was allegedly speeding in lanes of the eastbound I-10 freeway before the crash. The collision is taking up the No. 3 and 4 lanes of the eastbound side of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported around 1:32 a.m. May 5. When Los Angeles County Firefighters arrived on scene, they reported that the driver was breathing, had a pulse, but was unresponsive, according to the California Highway Patrol. Multiple good Samaritans pulled over to the side of the freeway and either were attempting to flag down other drivers for help, or prevent other drivers from crashing into the trapped Honda Accord and tractor trailer, according to a law enforcement helicopter over the scene. A one-hour Sig Alert for the No. 3, 4 and 5 lanes of traffic was issued at 1:49 a.m. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert for two hours affecting several lanes on the eastbound I-10 freeway just west of Kellogg Drive after a semi hauling Coca-Cola overturned and spilled its load Saturday morning.
The No 3 and 4 lanes will be blocked while workers upright the trailer and semi, which overturned on its roof, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash was reported to the CHP around 5:42 a.m. March 5. The semi hauling a 65-foot fully-loaded trailer possibly collided with two sedans, according to CHP traffic logs. Much Coca-Cola reportedly has spilled onto the roadway. It is not publicly clear if there were any injuries. POMONA - One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision early Sunday, the California Highway Patrol said. All westbound I-10 freeway lanes just west of Kellogg Drive remain closed, with traffic being diverted off to the 57 freeway. The collision was first reported to the CHP around 4:47 a.m. September 19, according to CHP traffic logs. At least two vehicles, both with no descriptions, collided. One came to a stop in the No. 2 lane of the westbound I-10 freeway, another came to a stop on the right shoulder. Officers with the police department for California State Polytechnic University, Pomona also arrived on scene after the crash to help redirect traffic on the freeway until the CHP could arrive to take over the closure. The incident was reported to the CHP around 8:38 a.m. September 13. Firefighters arrived on scene and performed CPR, but the driver was pronounced dead around 9:10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The flatbed truck is described as a Ford F450 from Penske. |
