The body was discovered near the Holt Avenue off ramp from the north 71 freeway. The person, described as possibly a white male in his 30s, may have been the victim of a rollover crash that occurred last night, according to the California Highway Patrol. A two-hour Sig Alert was issued for the off ramp. It was not immediately clear how far along the ramp from surface streets the body was found. CHP officers responded to the crash and shooting around 11:58 p.m. July 25. There are reports that I suspect was taken into custody. CHP officer Patrick Kimball said that a person of interest was detained at 12:29 AM but he could not confirm if anyone was taken into custody, either by CHP officers, or Pomona Police officers. At least two vehicles, possibly two more, are involved in the collision, which was reported around 8:37 p.m. A Honda CR-V was involved in the collision. It is unclear how the collision occurred. One witness account stated that the CR-V may have been disabled on the shoulder and another vehicle crashed into it. Another account indicated that one of the vehicles involved in the crash may have been driving in opposing lanes of traffic, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs. The Los Angeles County Fire Department is on scene, but it is unclear how many injuries resulted from the crash. The crash occurred on the westbound I-10 freeway just east of the 71 freeway January 24. The driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu crashed into the rear of a 2018 Honda Accord disabled in the No. 4 lane, according to the CHP. Three people standing outside the Accord were struck by the disabled vehicle. The South Gate man, 41, died at the scene.
The two other people, a 39-year-old woman and 20-year-old man, were taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. The damaged Malibu was then struck by a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, the 32-year-old driver of which was hospitalized with back injuries, the CHP said. ”The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu fled the scene prior to the CHP arrival,'' according to the CHP in a written statement. The No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes of traffic were closed until around 4:17 a.m. Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to call the CHP Baldwin Park Office at 626-338-1164. POMONA - A female jumped to her death onto the westbound 60 freeway from the Phillips Ranch Road overpass Thursday morning, a CHP officer said. The first report of a jumper was made at 7:44 a.m. The unidentified female apparently jumped before officers arrived, according to Officer Moises Marroquin of the California Highway Patrol Traffic Management Center. The No. 2, 3 and 4 lanes of the westbound 60 at Phillips Ranch are blocked for an unknown duration, in addition to the northbound Phillips Ranch on ramp to the west 60 freeway, Marroquin told SGV CityWatch. A red SUV struck the rear of the semi trailer and became stuck underneath it around 3:30 a.m. November 3. A Sig Alert was issued for the No. 3 and 4 lane for an unknown duration beginning just after 4 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. A tow truck was called to separate the SUV from the trailer, according to CHP traffic logs. Initial reports indicated as many as five people inside the SUV were trapped, according to CHP radio traffic. The fire has burned an estimated 5 acres as of 6:55 p.m. The fire is burning in light to medium grass uphill. And there are no structures threatened at this time, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire is zero percent contained, with access made difficult by nearby railroad tracks, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The fire has a potential to burn an estimated 25 acres, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The California Highway Patrol has received a report of a man in a white tank top seen leaving where the fire ignited. One report states the man was setting something on fire, another report states that the man was also trying to extinguish the fire with a jug of water.
