The shooting took place in the 1500 block of East First Street. First responders were sent to the location at 10:45 p.m. September 22. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics transported all six victims to a hospital. Three of the victims were treated and released. One victim was last listed in stable condition. A victim in critical condition passed away Saturday morning, according to the Pomona Police Department. It is unclear if investigators have determined a motive, or have identified any suspects. Officers were called to the 1200 block of South Thomas Street around 4:08 a.m. September 9 to assist firefighters. Two gunshot victims were located. First responders were sent to Reservoir Street and Olive Street at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 19. A woman in her 30s was found down on Reservoir Street and severely injured. Firefighter paramedics attempted to save her, but she was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. It is unclear if detectives have determined the make and model of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian. First responders were called to East Holt Avenue and North Loranne Avenue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3 to a adult gunshot victim. Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died, according to the Pomona Police Department. Five hours later, another shooting victim would be discovered elsewhere in town. The victim died at the scene in a residential alleyway. It is not yet publicly clear if both shootings are related. The man was found in the alley off of Garey Avenue near Grove Street. First responders were sent to the location at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, June 4. Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department declared the men dead at the scene, according to the Pomona Police Department. A motive for the crime is apparently not known. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor POMONA - A Claremont man was identified as a suspect in a May 28 robbery where his victim escaped injury after being shot at.
The robbery took place in the area of Holt Avenue and Clark Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. During the robbery a suspect, identified as Dana Christian Torrez, 37, allegedly opened fire on his victim. The rear window of the victim’s vehicle was shattered, according to the Pomona Police Department. “While conducting a search of the area, officers managed to locate the individual believed to be responsible. However, the individual displayed a lack of cooperation and disregarded the commands given by the officers,” according to the Pomona Police Department in a written statement. Officers were soon able to take Torrez into custody. Torrez has since been officially charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office with shooting at an inhabited vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon with a firearm, robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Torrez is being held in lieu of $3 million bail. He is expected to make another appearance in Pomona Superior Court Thursday June 1. He has been booked on suspicion of Vehicular Manslaughter, Grand Theft Auto and Hit and Run resulting in death.
POMONA - The suspect wanted in a horrific collision that killed two adults and injured another sought treatment at a Montclair hospital. The suspect’s name is not yet publicly available, pending medical clearance and booking, according to Aly Mejia, spokeswoman for the Pomona Police Department. Pomona police officers arrived to the Montclair hospital once the department was notified. The department’s traffic unit is investigating, Mejia told SGV CityWatch. The crash between an SUV and a sedan occurred on Gary Avenue between East Bonita Avenue and Harrison Avenue around 8:45 p.m. Sunday, May 28. A man and woman died in the overturn SUV. A third woman, said to be in her 50s or 60s, was extricated and taken to a hospital and was last listed in critical condition. A 50-60-year-old woman who survived the crash was critically injured. First responders were sent to Garey Avenue between Harrison Avenue and East Bonita Avenue around 8:45 p.m. May 28, according to the Pomona Police Department. An SUV carrying the three victims overturned, trapping them all. A sedan involved in the crash ended up hitting a tree. A resident told Fox 11 that a man fled with a duffle bag or backpack from the crashed sedan and is believed to have caused the fatal crash. The resident followed the man to an apartment complex on Garey Avenue, but lost sight of him after the man exited the apartment complex. Investigators have yet to provide a suspect description and it is unclear if a description was provided by any witnesses. Fernando Lopez, 31, was taken into custody in Corona May 23 after ditching his reportedly stolen ride. Officers attempted to stop him near White Avenue and Holt Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department. The incident began at 11:15 a.m. Lopez allegedly fled police at high speed, ignored stop signs and drove in opposing lanes of traffic. The pursuit took to the southbound 71 freeway into Corona, according to the Pomona Police Department. Lopez escaped his vehicle on Serfas Club Drive. An Ontario Police helicopter located Lopez in a tree. Lopez was booked on suspicion of felony evading, grand theft auto, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license, according to the Pomona Police Department. Salome Rodriguez, 44, and Jocelyn Delacruz, 24, were taken into custody near South Hamilton Boulevard and West Eighth Street by the Pomona Police Special Investigations Unit which was conducting surveillance on the pair, according to the Pomona Police Department. A victim was wounded by gunfire just before 3 p.m. at a liquor store in the 1100 block of West Mission Boulevard. The Pomona Police Major Crimes Unit and Special Investigations Unit were able to quickly identify Rodriguez and Delacruz as suspects with the help of video surveillance. The pair were found walking near South Hamilton Boulevard and West Eighth Street when undercover officers found them and took them into custody. The victim was treated at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Both suspects, who reside in Pomona, were charged with one count each of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. The pair already had a scheduled court appearance March 17 and are scheduled again in court April 27 in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records. Rodriguez is being held in lieu of more than $3.2 million bail in the Men’s Central Jail in Los Angeles. Delacruz is being held without bail at the Century Regional Detention Facility, according to Los Angeles County booking records. |
