The teen was found shot October 1 near Lincoln Avenue and Caswell Avenue around 11 p.m. by officers responding to a call of gunfire. The teen was taken to an area hospital where he later died, according to the Pomona Police Department. The suspect or suspects involved are still apparently unknown. A motive is also unknown. The day after the shooting, a teen was arrested near the scene of the shooting after a report of gunfire heard in the area. Officers tried speaking with several people at a vigil for the shooting victim when a teen boy ran.
The arrested teen allegedly disposed of a loaded handgun during the foot chase. He was eventually booked on suspicion of gun possession, Pomona Police said.
