The suspect is about to surrender, REGION - West Covina police are pursuing a stolen SUV in the Azusa area. The solo occupant is driving around traffic, using the sidewalk and rolling through red lights as the driver evades deputies. The chase reportedly began in the Pico River area. The chase is, at the time of this post, north on Azusa Avenue passing Arrow Highway. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - A man has died after being injured in a double shooting, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. A woman was also injured in the shooting, which took place around 8:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of South Larimore Avenue. Both victims were taken to a hospital where the male victim was declared dead, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Information can be provided anonymously by calling L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

WEST COVINA - As many as three men forced their way into a home early Thursday, pretending to be police officers.
The home invasion occurred in the 2200 block of Pacific Park Way around 4 a.m. December 27. The suspects yelled “police” and search warrant” as they force their way in, but the residents quickly knew the suspects were not officers, according to the West Covina Police Department.

Children were also present inside the home at the time the men broke in, West Covina Police said.
The suspects fled after the residents called 9-1-1. They took a television with them as they ran and fled into what is believed to be a dark-colored four-door sedan. The suspects were only described as young males. “No weapons were seen but West Covina Police want to warn the public that these types of suspects could be armed,” West Covina Police said in a written statement. “West Covina Police are asking residents to be vigilant and they should call 911 on any suspicious people or activity, particularly if people are forcing entry into their home claiming to be police officers.” Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to call West Covina Police at 626-939-8688. The man is barricaded in a home in the 1000 block of South Willow Avenue. Officers were investigating a shooting when the suspect fled from them, according to the West Covina Police Department. Officers were called to the area after a bullet reportedly went through the window of a home, West Covina Police said. Officers are asking people to stay out of the area. The body was found in the 4100 block of South Sentous around 7:19 a.m., according to Lt. Travis Tibbetts of the West Covina Police Department. The person is believed to be male and may have been in the vehicle for more than one day, Tibbetts said. It is unclear if the death was natural or a homicide. Tibbetts was unsure of what type of injuries, if any, the victim sustained. The body was spotted roughly around 5:30 p.m. near West Covina Parkway and Vincent Avenue. Officers responded and confirmed the man was dead, according to Lt. Huston Clements of the West Covina Police Department. Police are still at the scene, Clements said. It was not immediately known if foul play is suspected. The suspect approached the woman and produced a black handgun, taking the woman’s black iPhone 6S, $500 and her identification around 8:45 p.m., according West Covina Police. The suspect entered a white Toyota Corolla or Camry, which fled south from the scene. The suspect is Hispanic 5 feet 10 inches tall, 140 pounds in black hat, blue buttoned shirt and denim pants. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - Two men who were confronted by a homeowner after they gained access to his backyard escaped arrested during an hour-long search Wednesday.
The suspects jumped into a yard in the 3100 block of Sunset Hill Drive just after Noon when no one answered their knocks at the front door. Once in the rear yard, the homeowner confronted them and they fled, according to Cpl. Rudy Lopez of the West Covina Police Department. Nearby Mesa Elementary School and South Hills High School inquired about the hefty police search, aided by a helicopter, and chose to put themselves on lockdown. “They elected to lock down and held students in their classrooms,” Lopez said. The West Covina Police Department notified the schools that their search ended after the suspects could not be found, Lopez said. One suspect is either a white or light-skinned Hispanic man, 18-25 years old with black, curly shoulder-length hair. He is 5-foot 8 to 5 feet 9 inches tall and wore a blue long-sleeve shirt and light blue jeans. The second suspect is a Hispanic man with short black hair and he wore a black shirt and black sweat pants with a star patter on them. One victim, described as female, was hit and sent underneath a vehicle. She is not pinned under the vehicle and is breathing, according to West Covina Police radio traffic.
