Jaime Fernandez Jr., a 26-year-old El Monte man, was identified by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner. Fernandez was found dead behind the wheel of a vehicle in the 100 block of South Glendora Avenue Sunday, November 3. Officers responding to 9-1-1 calls around 12:55 a.m. found Fernandez’s vehicle crashed into a pole, according to Lt. Travis Tibbetts of the West Covina Police Department. “It appears there was a conflict between the occupants of two different vehicles which led to the shooting,” Tibbetts said.
The gunman fled the scene in a sedan. There is no better description of the vehicle provided, or is there a description of the gunman. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - Two men were arrested on suspicion of murder after being detained during a SWAT operation in La Verne, West Covina Police announced. Elijah Thomas Rouse, an 18-year-old La Verne man, and Shaun Cardarelli, a 37-year-old San Gabriel man, are being held in lieu of $1 million bail. Evidence collected during the search warrant served in La Verne August 27 led investigators to believe the disappearance of John Aguila is connected to a burning body found in Upland Friday. San Bernardino County Firefighters responded to the San Antonio Heights area for a small brush fire near North Mountain Avenue and Euclid Avenue August 23 around 3:30 a.m. The body was located while flames were being extinguished. The burned body has yet to be positively identified.
Aguila, 28, was last seen and heard from August 22 around 4:30 p.m. His abandoned car was found in San Dimas August 23 — bloodied gloves and clothing found within. A motive for the killing is either unknown or has yet to be publicly disclosed. Rouse and Cardarelli are scheduled to appear in Pomona Superior Court August 29. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - The suspect accused of a fatal shooting in Baldwin Park June 28 was arrested Tuesday, Sheriff’s homicide detectives said. Gregory Thomas Kingsbury, 37, was found and arrested at a West Covina home July 2. He is being held in lieu of $1 million bail and is scheduled for an appearance in Pomona Superior Court July 5. Kingsbury is accused of pulling the trigger on his still publicly unidentified brother in the 14600 block of Demblon Street. Baldwin Park Police officers found the injured man. He later died at a hospital.
Kingsbury fled in a grey 2012 Nissan Altima which was found abandoned and later recovered. A motive for the killing is either unknown or has not been publicly provided. Written by AARON CASTREJON | CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA - Two men accused of fatally stabbing an 18-year-old man at West Covina Plaza will see their day in court.
West Covina detectives developed leads recently that led them to identify two suspects responsible for the September 23, 2012 killing. David Ernie Sanchez, Jr., 24, was arrested as he left his Hesperia home May 10. Eight days later, Joseph Andrew Quintero, 30, was taken into custody as he left his El Monte home, West Covina Police said. The murder case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and a murder charge was filed on both suspects. Ibrahim Zepeda was fatally stabbed in the parking lot of Sears at West Covina Plaza, 1209 Plaza Drive nearly six years ago. West Covina officers were informed of the stabbing as Zepeda was at Queen of the Valley Hospital. Zepeda died during surgery, West Covina Police said. Sanchez is being held in lieu of $2.04 million bail. Quintero is being held in lieu of $3.06 million bail. Both men are scheduled to appear at Pomona Superior Court June 14. |
