The home invasion robbery occurred in the 3400 block of South Flemington Drive around 1:30 a.m. August 16. A sledge hammer was used to break a rear sliding glass door, according to Lt. Michelle Figueroa of the West Covina Police Department. Figueroa did not immediately know what, if anything, was taken. Detectives are still determining the loss.
The resident was apparently uninjured during the robbery. Figueroa did not have a detailed description of the four suspects or a possible vehicle involved. Written by AARON CASTREJON CityWatch Editor WEST COVINA – An accused robbery suspect was found and arrested January 9 in Claremont, hours after pushing his victim down to steal her cellphone. Sean Dwight Taylor, 23, was found in Claremont coffee shop and detained by Claremont Police until West Covina officers could arrest him on suspicion of robbery, according to Cpl. Rudy Lopez of the West Covina Police Department. Taylor’s victim was loading groceries into her parked vehicle at Eastland Center, 2753 Eastland Center Dr., around 5 p.m. Wednesday. Taylor allegedly approached his victim from behind, shoved her and stole her cellphone from her rear pocket and fled.
“Later that evening, the victim’s husband checked her Life 360 App which was downloaded on her cellphone and it showed that the cellphone was at a location in the City of Claremont,” Lopez said.
Claremont Police arrived to the coffee shop in the 800 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard, located a man matching the suspect’s description and found him in possession of the victim’s cellphone Lopez said. Taylor, an Upland man, is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

WEST COVINA - As many as three men forced their way into a home early Thursday, pretending to be police officers.
The home invasion occurred in the 2200 block of Pacific Park Way around 4 a.m. December 27. The suspects yelled “police” and search warrant” as they force their way in, but the residents quickly knew the suspects were not officers, according to the West Covina Police Department.

Children were also present inside the home at the time the men broke in, West Covina Police said.
The suspects fled after the residents called 9-1-1. They took a television with them as they ran and fled into what is believed to be a dark-colored four-door sedan. The suspects were only described as young males. “No weapons were seen but West Covina Police want to warn the public that these types of suspects could be armed,” West Covina Police said in a written statement. “West Covina Police are asking residents to be vigilant and they should call 911 on any suspicious people or activity, particularly if people are forcing entry into their home claiming to be police officers.” Anyone with information on the suspects is urged to call West Covina Police at 626-939-8688. The suspect entered 76 gas station, 901 N. Sunset Ave., around 8:25 p.m. and brandished what appeared to be a long gun, according to Lt. Ron Allen of the West Covina Police Department. The long gun was draped with a blanket, according to West Covina Police radio traffic. It is unknown if the weapon was a rifle or shotgun, Allen said. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 20 to 25 years old. He wore a black long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and wore a black bandana across his face. Allen has yet to speak with the investigating officers and did not know if any loss occurred. The suspects entered T-Mobile, 235 N. Citrus Ave. #B, just after 12:50 p.m. and forced employees to the back, according to a West Covina Police crime broadcast. An undisclosed number of cell phones were taken. Both suspects were described as men, but one suspect could possibly be a woman, West Covina Police said. One suspect was dressed black pants and a black hooded sweater. The suspect wore white tennis shoes. The second suspect wore a blue hooded sweater, dark brown or khaki pants and white tennis shoes. The suspect fled in a black Jetta northbound through the parking lot towards Workman Avenue, West Covina Police said. No further information is available. The suspect approached the woman and produced a black handgun, taking the woman’s black iPhone 6S, $500 and her identification around 8:45 p.m., according West Covina Police. The suspect entered a white Toyota Corolla or Camry, which fled south from the scene. The suspect is Hispanic 5 feet 10 inches tall, 140 pounds in black hat, blue buttoned shirt and denim pants. One of the suspects is accused of robbing at gunpoint the 7-Eleven, 235 N. Azusa Ave., around 11:10 a.m. The masked suspect was armed and demanded money from the clerk, ultimately taking $600, according to West Covina Police radio traffic. The Charger was witnessed fleeing south Azusa Avenue and onto the westbound 10 freeway, where officers immediately began searching and located the vehicle. A West Covina officer followed the suspects until a helicopter and backup arrived before initiating a traffic stop near the Del Mar Avenue on ramp. The robbery took place near K-Mart, 730 S. Orange Ave., around 6 p.m. The victim was waiting at the intersection when the suspect approached and produced a black handgun, according to West Covina Police radio traffic. Initially, it was reported the suspect asked to use the victim’s phone. The suspect, further described as being 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, with a medium build and a goatee, fled westbound towards Doctors Hospital of West Covina, 725 S. Orange Ave. A West Covina Police supervisor was unavailable to provide further details. The robbery occurred just after 8 p.m. at Ulta Beauty, 2700 E. Workman Ave. Ste. A. As the woman left the store, she brandished a stun gun, according to Sgt. William Worley of the West Covina Police Department. A West Covina Police broadcast described the stun gun as pink and it was brandished at an employee. The woman was accompanied by and man and both fled in a car from the location, according to the crime broadcast. An incident report was not yet written and no more information was available, Worley said. The victim met the two men to sell the shoes using the app OfferUp. One of the two suspects was armed with a knife and took the shoes, said Sgt. Keith Shishido of the West Covina Police Department. Shishido did not describe the suspects to preserve the investigation, but did say they were Hispanic men 18 to 20 years old. A value and description fo the shoes was not available. |
